Raeburn and Utrecht Shields

Excuse my ignorance*, is the Raeburn for an Italy game?

*and my laziness for not reading the thread

Think of it like a boxing world title that is handed over to a new holder when they beat the current holder. It’s been “going” since the first ever international rugby match and passed on from then.

I say “going” because it’s informal and not acknowledged by World Rugby or by teams themselves from what I’ve seen. You can see all the holders of it here:

NB - it's cousin, the Uhtrecht Shield is acknowledged by the players themselves, but not offiically by WR or the unions.

And yeah, it's "winner stays on" dating back to the first ever international at Raeburn Place (or Uhtrecht, for the women)

England current holders, taking the Raeburn into the AIs this year.
Australia first up challengers.

Worth noting that IF England go undefeated this Autumn it'll be their longest ever run with the shield (currently 7, record of 10)
