Rassie Erasmus confirmed as Springbok coach

Just as we all thought...

Rassie Erasmus will spearhead a streamlined but experienced Springbok management team until the end of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, SA Rugby confirmed on Wednesday, as the former Springbok captain will combine his Springbok coaching duties with his current role as director of rugby at SA Rugby.

Springbok management team:

Head coach: Rassie Erasmus

Assistant coaches: Jacques Nienaber, Pieter de Villiers, Mzwandile Stick

Head of athletic performance: Aled Walters

Technical analyst: Lindsay Weyer

Team doctor: Konrad von Hagen

Head of operations: Charles Wessels

Physiotherapists: Vivian Verwant, Rene Naylor, Tanu Pillay

Logistics manager: JJ Fredericks

Media manager: Rayaan Adriaanse

PR manager: Annelee Murray

Not very happy with Mzwandile Stick being back as backline coach. Last time in 2016 his experience..or lack thereoff..showed when he was assistant to Alistair Coetzee. He did have a stint with the U/20's so hopefully he will come back a more experienced coach.

The best we can hope for is that he is a better Stick than the 2016 one. Still though the original argument stands, how can some of our experienced backs take advice from a coach with much less international and domestic experience that themselves. Maybe he is there to learn from the current players instead in preparing for a future Springbok head coach role. Hopefully Rassie will be in charge of backline tactics and Stick works on skills. I mean he can atleast google how to do skills coaching. We can google everything these days.

I think that is just a ***le they gave him. Alexander previously said in a statement that they will train Stick to become a better coach. His ***le should have been "intern to the coaching team"
