Red Dead Redemption

Just finished the story today... Wow! Early days but very possibly GOTY already - Halo Reach (the only likely other contender IMO) will need to be really special.

I didn't think too much of the ending. I felt that it went away from conventions just for the sake of going away from them.

Halo Reach was very good - or at least the beta was, anyway.

I must be in the minority in thinking Halo is overrated/slightly boring then

One thing I've noticed over the years is people who slate Halo are either PS3 fanboys or the same obtuse sorts who criticise Modern Warfare and GTA 4 just to act 'cool' by being different.

Never owned a PS3, love MW :p
I liked Halo, but thought the sequels were nothing special

I dont like any of these games, lol. I buy my games for the SP experience and found MW and halo games to be very scripted ,linear and boring (I long for the BF 1942 days of offline bot wars) and not to mention short. I always feel a little ripped off, though I know these games shine online, but Ive never had the chance to play halo online, only MW. I just
contiually find myself longing for the scale of vehicles of BF1942/BF2.

GTA4 was amazing at first, but soon I found myself trying to keep all my in game friends, family and girlfriend happy! I spend most of my time doing that in real life. I felt like I was playing the sims. The story missons started to degenerate into
go here and kill a million guys then lose your tail. I just lost interested. I had finished and love all previous GTA ***les.

I own a PS3 and a 360, I certainly would never have bought a ps3 if the 360 was region free.

I love read dead redemtion. It is absolutely GOTY for me. Im at 46 percent and am 30 hours in. I have only done one mission in mexico.Ive just been roaming.

Own both machines. Hate Halo. Modern Warfare is too focused on multiplayer and would be nice if the single-player was long enough for a casual gamer. GTA IV was darn right awesome, but had its faults in the fact that I found San Andreas more enjoyable because it had more variety rather than just a concrete jungle.

At the end of the day, they are just games and everyone is different. GTA IV was **** compared to previous ***les because it lacked depth in gameplay. I'm more about single player and offline co-op which no games seem to have nowadays.

got this game on thursday evening....its absolutely jaw dropping the graphics the gameplay everything about it is brilliant...i love the hunting mode in it its addictive went off to make a bit of money in mexico didnt realise how long i was there potted 37 wolves...

anybody know how llong i gotta wait till i get sniper rifle and get to go buffalo hunting ?

You get the sniper towards the end of the missions in Mexico, not seen any buffalo yet, but I've only just completed the mexico missions, and i'm doing the side missions in there (like gathering flowers and the such) before i head back to America

Head up to Great plains to the west of Blackwater to find the Buffalo.

yeah its still blocked for me although if you get arrested near the border of hennigans stead and the locked area you may be taken to blackwater sherrifs office ..severe twist in the end of the game i believe

Is it just me who is a little bored of this game? I've had it for a few days now and I find the missions pretty samey, nothing really to do in free roam that is any fun and just feels like a bit of a trudge. I loved GTA 4 but im a little tired of playing this riding everywhere just to ride to another place to shoot/escort/collect something and then ride back again just to do it all again. Maybe it will grow on me if I play it more but at the moment im very indifferent to it.

i think your the only one. what part are you up to becues it does start a bit badly.

I was the exact opposite, i hated GTA4 and thought the missions were very boring/predictable but loved every second of RDR

If you don't like the travel somewhere-shoot something-collect award-repeat game structure, I don't think sandbox games are for you.
