Scarlets star Regan King has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault in a Llanelli pub.The incident is alleged to have taken place in a pub in the town's Swansea Road on the evening of July 28.

King, who is originally from New Zealand, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The 26-year-old centre has been a huge success on the field at Stradey Park since he joined the region in 2005.

In May this year, he was the runaway winner of the Evening Post's Scarlets' player of the year award, voted by readers.

The once-capped All Black also picked up the Magners League Wales Player of the Month for September 2006. In October of that year, King was left needing stitches after trouble broke at Le Caprice wine bar in Llanelli.

Four people were subsequently arrested by police.

That incident prompted a warning from the Scarlets' director of rugby Phil Davies to players to be careful where they socialised.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed they were investigating the alleged July 28 incident.

She said: "Police are investigating an alleged assault which occurred on July 28 in Swansea Road, Llanelli.

"Hospital treatment was not required.

"A 26-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail pending further inquiries."

Scarlets chief executive Stuart Gallacher has declined to comment on the alleged assault.

He's just earned his call up for the ABs - got to get a punch in somewhere. [/b]

Its just lucky he didn't punch an Irish rugby player - they'd likely be in hospital in a critical condition if he had ;)

HaHa - i was watching a documentary on the ABs there last night - pretty good stuff. The one thing that made me laugh though was that some bird...dunno who she was...was saying that the sport ethos in NZ is extremely strong....all Kiwis are Gracious in defeat, humble in victory, and never have a grudge to bear once the final whistle is blown.

TOTAL ********! i'm gonna mail her and get her to take a look at this site!! That'd change her tune!!
