RL "fightback" after Sam Burgess conversion

League's answer to Mourad Boudjellal.

Ok, an idiot with too much money. I don't think the best Union players could change code, the RWC is next year. It's more common to see the best League players change code in his best years (Wendell Sailor, Sonny Bill Williams, Israel Folau...) than Union players.

Cheers

I thought he said post world cup.

It's garbage though.

I love league but no one will change now. Worse money and smaller sport why would you swap unless your career was washed up (Thomas Powell anyone)

Yeah, gone are the days when the clubs could entice the top amateurs from the South with huge (at the time) paypackets.

Money talks...if this fella is willing to pay the dosh then any union player will go...certainly after next years Rugby WC.

I read the League message boards and many fans of the game are deeply concerned about its survival and Union swallowing up the best players. The only way I can see league keeping its best players is having more wealthy owners to bankroll the clubs and pay out substantial wages. Union players don't earn a great deal in comparison to other sports, so if any filthy rich league owners are willing to chuck cash around the players will come a sniffin.

Reckon Tom Youngs would make a decent League Hooker conversation, can imagine him doing some damage off a quick play-the-ball, if a side has just broken the line and the defence hasn't got back 10m to set quick enough.

Don't mistake "rugby league" for "Marvan Koukash."

He is the biggest embarrassment in the sport. There ain't no way in hell Lions players are leaving to go to rugby league. Koukash owns Salford, who are and always will be a small time club. He is jumping up and down, waving his hands in the air with fistfuls of £20 notes screaming "look at me."

Nobody in rugby league is listening - I suggest nobody in rugby union does either. Ignore the parasite for long enough and he'll soon go away.

Confirmed: Marwan wants to go after Manu Tuilagi!

I remember the days when League clubs were offering Union players contracts because Union was amateur. Didnt seem to bother them at the time...what goes around

Yeah it seems hypocritical for league to be whining when they did the same to Union.

Market forces, survival of the fittest.

League shouldn't be looking to "fight" union. Rather than take your eye off the ball and bemoan another code, they should be focusing on the shortcomings of their own product.
