Round 7. Cheetahs v Brumbies

Last week the Cheetahs got shown up by the Sharks and the Brumbies outclassed the Stormers.
This week however the Brumbies don’t have the home ground advantage.
Wallaby skipper Stirling Mortlook was inspirational in his return from injury, player of the round for mine (check some stats on his defensive effort).

Can his influence be enough to beat the Cheetahs on their home ground?
Nope, Juan Smith will have pumped up his boys for this one.

Should be a close game but leaning towards the Cheetahs in this one.

I reckon that the Brumbies will have the better of this one, as the momentum is going their way at the moment.

The Cheetahs started their campaign like a house on fire, but the wheels have come off in spectacular fashion in the last 3 weeks. By contrast, while the Brumbies were atrocious in the early rounds, last week they played their typical controlled Brumbies rugby, with Mortlock superb on both attack and defense.

The Cheetahs need to sort out their midfield ASAP- if Bosman isn`t missing straight-forward tackles, Kruger is trying to bash his way through 5 defenders- not too smart if you`re a wee lad of 80kg. By contrast, the Brumbies are looking pretty sharp in the centres, and Mortlock and co. should be able to slice the Cheetahs midfield to ribbons. That is if jet-lag and the altitude factor in Bloem doesn`t get to them. Other than that, I can`t see the Brumbies losing this one

The jet lag factor will get to the Cheetahs if the Brumbies aren't at their best. As long as Mortlock is there the Brumbies should get home.

The jet lag factor will get to the Cheetahs[/b]

How far is it from Bloemfontein to Bloemfontein? Bloemfontein must be bigger than I thought...

Round 7. Saturday 17 March Cheetahs v Brumbies - Bloemfontein

He probably thinks the Cheetahs are going over to Canberra for the game...and he's a Brumbie supporter.

The Cheetahs home loss last week should be a big motivator for them to beat the Brumbies. They have a legion of fans they dont want to disappoint, so expect them to come back stronger this week.

Cheetahs to win by less than 10.

Lol yea thought we were still at home, jet lag factor could get to us then.

Even with the the Brumbies fielding a star team I'm going for the Cheetahs.
Looking at the Cheetahs forward pack I'm backing that they will be to dominant for the Brumbies backline to recieve quality ball. However if the Brumbies forward pack rises to the occasion then expect a close game.

38-20 final score. :(

A bad loss for the brumbies.

I just two f***ing weeks of consistent rugby, f*** where they are playing this is starting to **** me. :ranting:

5 tries to the cheetahs bloody hell, another bonus point game. :)

Cheetahs runs wild Brumbies ragged
Saturday 17th March 2007

The Cheetahs bounced back from three bad weeks to run a wild bunch of Brumbies ragged in Bloemfontein on Saturday, winning their Round Seven Super 14 match 38-20.

The Cheetahs, who looked to run everything at the Brumbies from the outset, scored five tries, while the Brumbies replied with three - the third of those coming after the hooter for full-time had already sounded.

This victory, which saw the Cheetahs move into sixth place on the standings, also put their play-off hopes back on the table.

Great game by the Cheetahs. Their performance can be summed up by 2 words: Juan Smith! This guy just keeps on delivering the goods, week after week. Even in a quiet game, he`s the stand-out.

Good to see Bevan Fortuin back in action, a real stalwart last season for the Cheetahs, and looking quite hungry too. On a sad note for the Cheetahs, Os Du Randt will not go on tour, and will certainly not be participating in the Currie Cup, as part of Jake White`s plans to have him rested and injury-free for the Tri-Nations and World Cup, so this might have been the last chance to see the big fella playing in his beloved white jersey in Bloem. The Osfontein faithful might still get a chance to see the legend in green and gold when the Boks take on England in Osfontein in July though.
