Home Alone I had this in my phone calendar all year for a December watch (it's set during Christmas). I made it 45 minutes and stopped. Macaulay Culkin's character is funnier than I remembered but it's very aimed at kids. Next year I might give Home Alone 2: Lost in New York a go I have stronger memories of seeing that as a kid.

Mad!
Home Alone 1 and 2 are great!

2 is my favourite of them - I didn't realise until a year or two ago that it wasn't actually well received and was panned by critics, I think it's brilliant tbh

I watched The Holiday for the first time last week - somehow managed to avoid it despite it being on ITV2 about 4 times a week the entirety of December
Very solid Christmas romcom - but it's always going to be with such a stellar cast.
I thought the Kate Winslet/elderly Hollywood writer storyline was better than any of the romantic ones, tbh.
The Winslet/Black storyline was the weakest - crazy that they watched JB in school of rock and decided that he was the best choice for the American love interest

Home Alone - 63 on Metacritic
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York - 46 on Metacritic

Violent Night (comedy action film with David Harbour as Santa, it's on the Channel 4 streaming app)

As a whole film it's ok but the action sequences are very good/OTT (deliberately so), especially the Home Alone-esque scene

The Housemaid - Worst film I've seen in a cinema in years. Would've switched it off if I were watching at home. Some in the audience did gasp at a twist revelation so others might like it more than I.

Its a fairly by the numbers Erotic Thriller it's pretty ok but nor brilliant but worse film? There's been actually bad films released this year.

Mind you some guy walked out of Hamnet last night and came back after the film ended and declared it the most depressing film he'd ever seen and that he could feel it in the room (yeah I teared up but it wasn't depressing, I got over it pretty quickly). This is year that contained Nuermberg that has actual footage of what the Aliies found in Nazi concentration camps for a good 5 minutes.

Sometimes I wonder if people who declare this stuff actually watch films...
