Hi Folks, Here's some stats that I thought you might find interesting. They come from the pool games and have been sourced courtesy of Verusco Technologies, the company that supplies the All Blacks with their TryMaker video analysis systems.

Where there are more than 10 players on equal numbers I will include them.

Please PM me if you have any specific queries and I'll do my best to find out any others you want (assuming I don't get completely swamped by requests!!)

An interesting thing to note is that in some areas the top teams dont feature too much but I believe thats mainly due to their rotating players for weaker pool opposition, thus not allowing any one player to accumulate TOP 10 numbers. Interesting that Ireland had the top 4 players for many of the positive categories but you can see they also had two of the top Tackles Made (defending a lot therefore) and also O'Gara kicked more metres than any other player. Did they have to defend to much after kicking away possession? I'd say so! Its unlikely attacking teams will end up with a similar profile so I'll look forward to seeing how things stack up in the Quarters.

I hope this is of interest.

What surprised me was this:

Fiji in the Top 5 considering this was one of our main weakness.

Juggernaut, yes there were some surprises but stats have to be read in context. Koto played and had more throws than the other FIji hooker who only scored 10 in this category. NZ's top two hookers in this category were Mealamu and Hore with 17 and 13 respectively (from memory). Unfortunately both Fiji's Hookers also appeared in the Top 10 for Losing Linouts on Own throw.

It could have been that the opposition teams knew this was a weakness and purposely went for the sideline more often, knowing they had a good chance of disrupting the Fijian ball.

Sorry about the Schwalger error, I mistakenly included one of his per game stats in my sort as well as his total. Thanks

Interesting stuff. Makes sense that no All Blacks would be on that list, due to heavy rotation and resting players. Same goes for why Ireland has so many players in the top 10 of tackling, when they played their starters in every game. Still 19 tackles per game is a heavy effort from Paul O'Connell.

Do you have the stats for number of times passed? Running meters?

Thanks.

I understand the rotation context, but they're still bitter figures for Ireland - all that application for nothing.

Well I certainly wouldn't be happy if my first-five kicked 500m more than any other player.

Strebor, a big thanks for providing these stats.

A per game, or per minutes played, adjustment would give some pretty interesting stats to read.

While these number are interesting, comparing apples with apples might paint a more realistic picture compared to how the team stacked up on the points table, and how their players performed.

Sure, I pumped these up pretty quick but I'll spend a bit more time on a per 80 minutes report and try and get best performers for a number of categories ... Cheers
