SA in June

So Heynecke Meyer has said that (partly due to injury) he is considering a younger Bok squad than he originally thought of. Doesn't say a hell of a lot but at least we will probably see a few fresh young hungry faces. Probably particularly at lock and in the loose forwards as that is where we have lost a lot of experience (Matfield, Botha, Rossouw and with Bekker injured..) and have a lot of injuries in the loose forward dept. (Burger, Smith, Vermeulen).

He has also stated that he is impressed with Marcell Coetzee but reading between the lines I'd surmise that he was asked about Coetzee particularly by the journalist. It would be a crime to leave out CJ Stander and/or Jacques Potgieter if new blood was sought for the backrow.

With Johan Goosen named in the JRWC squad we probably won't be seeing him in the senior Bok squad this June yet. So that probably points to either Steyn or Lambie as Bok pivot for June. Steven Kitshoff is the only other likely player included in the JRWC squad but he'd have been a WAAAAYYY outside pick in any case and I wouldn't mind him gaining a few more year's worth of experience in Super rugby TBH.

Along with rumors that Big Vic, FdP and Frans Steyn are in contention the Bok line-up is slowly taking shape... though we can only speculate.

On a sidenote the Beast and Mujati played at schools level (which is an absolutely terrifying though)- as an outside observer I would love to see that front row pack down around Bismarck du Plessis.

Goosen's had a very solid season but his inclusion in the JRWC is worrying... Morne Steyn at 10 will not unleash a backline for the Boks. Will have to pray Lambie gets the nod at 10 if we want to see expansive rugby played in June.

Have to honest, I agree with Meyer with regards to Goosen. He is a young player, and you don't want to potentially mess him up throwing him out early.
Grant and Lambie are the best option at 10 in my opinion. Steyn isn't bad, but would play too much of a kicking game I feel.

Yeah, I'd love to see Mujati back. I think our best scrumming frontrow would look something like

1 Guthro Steenkamp
2 Gary Botha
3 Brian Mujati

but then we'd have to wholesale re-import our entire frontrow so I'd be happy with the one you mentioned.

I also won't spill any tears about Goosen playing in the juniors this season. There is enough time and he will force his way into the 10 jersey sooner rather than later. Let him settle a bit more in Super rugby. I can't shake the feeling that Steyn is going to be the Bok 10 for a while yet but am hopeful that either of Lambie or Grant will have some say in that regard.
