Sale Sharks' Philippe Saint Andre and Gloucester Rugby's Alasdair Strokosch have picked up the monthly Guinness Premiership awards for Director of Rugby and Player of the month in December. As part of their awards they will be given the opportunity to select two schools in their local area to receive free kit from Gilbert Rugby. For every award this season the winner in each category will be given the opportunity to nominate a school to receive a full set of rugby kit from Official Ball Supplier to the Guinness Premiership, Gilbert Rugby.

Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Philippe Saint Andre has guided his side to wins in both matches during the month.

Sale started by beating reigning Guinness Premiership champions Leicester Tigers 20-14 at Edgeley Park, before overturning a ten point deficit to beat Leeds Carnegie 20-34 at Headingley.

Those wins leave Sale handily placed in fourth as the half way stage of the league programme approaches.

Strokosch joined Gloucester from Edinburgh at the end of last season and his performances to date have resulted in the Scottish international signing a new two year deal with the league leaders.

24 year-old Strokosch played in both Gloucester's wins in December and has made nine Guinness Premiership appearances this season so far. There were also mentions from the judges for Sale Sharks' Charlie Hodgson and Newcastle Falcons' Toby Flood.

The monthly awards are selected by different rugby journalists each month and this month included Andrew Baldock of the Press Association, David Hands of The Times and Rob Wildman of the Daily Telegraph.
