Reported on NZ's state owned national news broadcaster, One Network News, information has come out of an unbelievable turn-around in funding for New Zealands hard-won World Cup bid.

As reported the New Zealand Labour government would reduce the $385 million dollars that was to be poured into creating a complete re-vamp of the existing Eden Park test rugby venue.

The reason given is that a british expert on budget priced stadium conversion has sold the idea of installing 11-13,000 temporary seats into the existing, slightly aging, stadium.

The cost of this new cut-price deal and the complete upgrade of the corporate areas only has been estimated in the vicinity of $50-100 million dollars.

Opposition spokesman, New Zealand National party MP Murray McCully, has commented that this new approach may damage the perception of the hosting abilities of New Zealand as a whole, in the eyes of the IRB.

More definite and specific details are expected to follow during the coming week.
