SR2017 'Power rankings'

The Bulls seem to be suffering from a lack of identity and direction. I do think they'll go 50/50 from here on out. Home advantage is huge for them and they are too proud a bunch to go down easily at home. I reckon there will be a fire lit under them if it hasn't been already. If Foley can sty fit and teh Waratahs get their tails up I am backing them to climb up the ladder as well bu its probs too late for them.

I am more confident about us facing the lions at home. I am hoping for the Lions halves to buckle and don't want to read too much into the win over the Chiefs. Its good but we played at 110% and it took a monumental defensive effort, converting nearly all our opportunities and 2 wel taken intercepts by Kolbe at key stages though I suppose one can say those intercepts were only possible because of the pressure we applied in D adn on the scoreboard. Still it took something of a 'perfect Storm' for us to take the win and deny the Chiefs a BP. I'll give us an even chance to take the Lions at home though.

Mine ATM;
1 Hurricanes
2 Crusaders - I have them above the Lions as they have men returning while the Lions have men out
3 Lions
4 Chiefs
5 Stormers - I have the Chiefs above us as I expect they'd beat us more comfortably (relatively speaking) and more consistently at home than we did them at Newlands
6 Highlanders
7 Sharks
8 Blues
9 Waratahs
10 Brumbies
11 Jaguares
12 Bulls - joining the 3rd band after a MUCH better showing at home
13 Rebels
14 Reds
15 Cheetahs - because leading the Chiefs 24-0 at any stage should count for something even if you capitulate from there, shouldn't it?
16 Force
17 Kings
18 Sunwolves

This one using World Rugby's system takes a long time to adjust positions since there isn't any input other than what the maths say over time but here it is;
1 Hurricanes NZL 91.9235 +0.3112
2 Chiefs NZL 87.7422 0.0000
3 Lions SAF 87.3225 +0.9225
4 Highlanders NZL 86.7602 +0.2456
5 Crusaders NZL 86.5531 0.0000
6 Sharks SAF 83.7046 +0.3753
7 Stormers SAF 81.7025 -0.9225
8 Blues NZL 81.4135 -0.3112
9 Brumbies AUS 79.2479 -1.2407
10 Jaguares ARG 78.5598 -1.1471
11 Waratahs AUS 78.5050 0.0000
12 Bulls SAF 76.3831 +1.1471
13 Rebels AUS 76.3222 +1.2407
14 Reds AUS 74.3756 +0.4276

They also lost to the stormers and have looked less convincing than the Canes... :p
Stands to reason seeing as the Stormers are 10/10 best team in the competition, and we never have nor will we ever lose a game.

In all seriousness it's very close between the Canes/Chiefs and Crusaders almost too close to make a definitive call.

Here's my guess:
Tier 1:
Hurricanes

Tier 2
Crusaders
Chiefs
Lions

Tier 3
Highlanders
Stormers
Sharks
Jaguares
Blues

Tier 4
Brumbies
Warratahs
Bulls/Cheetahs/Reds

Tier 5
The rest.

The teams are listed in order but the teams within the same tier are very close in my view, I might be being a little harsh on the Aussies.

I think that's a pretty fair summation tbh. I agree with all the groupings, might bump the blues up a placing or 2 but other than that it's pretty bang on imo. It's not too harsh on the Aussies, they've been crap this year.

Just an updated view on this... things have definitely changed a bit, and I think it's a lot harder to pick now then it was a few rounds ago. The Crusaders are rightfully just on top but it's pretty close between them and that whole top bunch... and then down the bottom half it's just a mish-mash of under performing teams, really hard to order them. The one team from down there that has stood up is the Kings, so credit to them.

1. Crusaders
2. Hurricanes
3. Chiefs
4. Lions
5. Highlanders

6. Blues

7. Sharks
8. Stormers

9. Brumbies
10. Kings

11. Reds
12. Waratahs
13. Bulls
14. Jaguares
15. Cheetahs
16. Force

17. Rebels
18. Sunwolves
