Back many a year ago in the medieval times the stocks were a common form of punishment so that the criminal himself could be humiliated and brandished in public for the crime he/she committed, thus revealing themselves and their crimes for all to see.
We still had civilised standards back then which dates just over a thousand years ago and if a person raped someone or sexually abused a child then they would be sent to trial charged for unlawful carnal knowledge.
If found guilty they would be sent to the stocks and the crime (abbreviated) was written across the planks for all to see: -
For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge - literally meaning to know what it's like to have unlawful sex.

Wow I learnt something today woohoo great find!

Gay-Guy puts forward some good points and to be fair, this did put the hat on the top of a very long and tiring day for me. I feel justified in facepalming but feel bad about arbitrarily saying "end of discussion."

Dan is a great guy who cares greatly about the forum, he's been through a lot and has helped to clean it up in the past year or so where there were a fair few troublemakers who really did make forum life hell for some. The reaction to a request to remove the swearing filter was one full of emotion over something which helps make TRF more accessible to users be they at work, at home with the kids or on the train with other people.

In the end, you have the right to bring up a suggestion on the boards here but you also have to expect that sometimes the topic will be so controversial as to incur instant wrath from the other members. Closing down the discussion is wrong but hitting out at an ill-thought out statement isn't.

Gees I didn't know what f$@! meant it's just some word people use to offend others or put more impff into their sentences. Now that I know the meaning I guess I'll be really watching out for how I use it now. Thanks RC you just made me swear 50percent less than what I would. Have you got one for s.h.i.t?
