The Climate crisis

Could be relevant. I know hurricanes season has increased in length with hurricanes coming earlier and later and are stronger which is linked to climate change.
 
I guess you could theorise that climate change => melting ice caps => reduced pressure on tectonic plates at the poles => earthquakes
IIRC we "know" that landmasses rise and fall with this mechanism, so it seems plausible.

You can also theorise that climate change => thawing permafrost of huge areas => landslides => tsunamis
IIRC we "think" that this is what happened when GB was separated from the mainland.

But I don't think we can be considering any individual earthquake to be related to climate change - it's the sort of thing that might theoretically result in an increased frequency.

I would second the suggestion of a separate thread for natural disasters.
