Create a natural disasters thread? Earthquakes which cause Tsunamis aren’t related to climate change.

Could be relevant. I know hurricanes season has increased in length with hurricanes coming earlier and later and are stronger which is linked to climate change.

But Tsunamis triggered by massive Earthquakes aren’t relevant to climate change. Earthquakes are due to tectonic plates shifting suddenly. They will happen regardless of how much additional carbon emitted by mankind.
I guess you could theorise that climate change => melting ice caps => reduced pressure on tectonic plates at the poles => earthquakes
IIRC we "know" that landmasses rise and fall with this mechanism, so it seems plausible.
You can also theorise that climate change => thawing permafrost of huge areas => landslides => tsunamis
IIRC we "think" that this is what happened when GB was separated from the mainland.
But I don't think we can be considering any individual earthquake to be related to climate change - it's the sort of thing that might theoretically result in an increased frequency.
I would second the suggestion of a separate thread for natural disasters.
