Tomorrow by beating Germany Russia could qualafy for the RWC for the first time in their history.

They impressed me in the 7's and beaten sides like Romania and Portugal.

I also saw on Russian TV that the sport is growing.

Russia has got 12 pro clubs one ove them "VVA-Podmoskovye Monino" is in good position to qualafy for the Amlin next season.

The russian captain was educated in Blackrock and. They've also got a unreal center Sergei Trishin.

Should it? I'm pretty sure the single ones ie.' ' are only used when the person has actually spoken the words. He typed them, therefore wouldn't the "" thingys be correct?

You used the wrong "your" .

Well I'd consider myself more at home with the Turkmens or Uzbeks to be honest but I suppose the Russians are ok. It is good to see them progressing but if I remember correctly they were fairly close to getting in to 2007. Rugby needs another big nation and while Japan and Georgia are probably the next closes in terms of quality, you gotta think Russia has greater potential.

I was refering to the "by" that should be a, well, "be". As far as the punctuation is concerned I plead ignorance and blame the fact that I live on the Afrikaans side of the Boerewors curtain in the Cape.

That said; go, Russia and go, Stormers!! I remember standing 'erewag' for the Russian team when they landed in Cape Town for the 1995 RWC. I still have a ball with entire team's signatures on it.

Jesus, with the amount of people Russia have in their country, if Rugby does kick off they could be a dominant force...plus there's lots of big guys over there.

More interesting would be Germany lacing up the boots, instead of faffing about with soccer. The deference to the ref. The precision of those rolling mauls. And their awesome consumption of quality beer.

They drew 21 all against Romania. But they only need to beat Germany who lost 64-0 against Portugal to go to the RWC. Even if they do not beat the Germans, Romania will have to beat Georgia in Tiblissi to prevent them from going to the RWC .

PS: Goergia have bokked their ticket to NZ

Congrats to Georgia on making it to the World Cup again. Is it 3 appearances in a row for them?

Hopefully Russia make it too. 150 million people live there; that's a hell of a lot of TV revenue potentially even if it remains a small minority sport. Certainly more than Portugal or Romania will bring to the table.
