this is embarrassing. i feel ashamed. sorry, too many dHeads in NZ
theres been such positivity and healthy rivalry this tour and then this had to happen

It's a big shame but it doesn't reflect at all on New Zealand - it could and would happen anywhere with this degree of national attention on an event.

Maybe not MS, but I feel this is a slippery slope if we accept/do not condemn this kind of behavior ... it's a little sad that some don't know where the line is, let alone have the self control not to cross it

Of course, you're right. It has to be condemned, I just mean that it's hard to control for the existence of individuals like this - because it is one individual. If anything, maybe it sheds light on how good natured the tour has been so far.

If it is an isolated incident then no worries. I'd only be concerned if there was any indication that the quality of media coverage is declining and is encouraging the more lunatic fringe that every country has (as can be the case with football coverage in the UK).

It's a good indictment on our sport how rarely this happens and how seriously this will be taken, but it does happen from time to time. Take that fat eejit running onto the field in South Africa as another example.

Ah there's unfortunately always one idiot, and annoyingly they're the ones who end up making headlines !

Clearly that fool doesn't represent the NZ population, and everyone I know who's headed over for the tour has said the welcome has been magnificent so far!

It was just a knob end who had drunk to much, was he a rugby fan ? I hope not, however this is not the norm in rugby circles. I have only seen trouble at a match once, it was a cup final in the 90's Ponty v Swansea, some Swansea soccer fans had got tickets and were aggressively drunk and hurling abuse, before the stewards had chance to react some Swansea rugby supporters jumped on them, gave them a few slaps and handed them to the stewards, rugby polices itself quite nicely.

Ah yes... Pieter van Zyl.

He ran into a couple of fists didn't he... one belonging to Richie and one (IIRC) belonging to A.J. Venter (not a man you want to mess with!)
