Very surprised Wood isn't starting. That said O'Shea has always been solid whenever I've seen him.

3 games in 10 days, so expect decent rotation, although this does look like largely a continuation of the starting team from the 6N.

O'Leary and Carney were excellent in the 6N but Deegan and Walsh were expected to start over them before getting injured so will be interesting to see how the team develops.

England seem to have chosen to leave both their actual fly halves at home, making way for... a couple of fullbacks, or for this match, a schoolboy.

We need a coaching reform in all aspects of the men's game.
It's weird how much emphasis is placed onto the u19s
I get that the logic of exposing the first year U20s to game time so when they get to their final year they're better/more well rounded but we seem to miss that second step quite a lot and just churn through inexperienced younger players

great combination of unfit, unathletic, and unskilled for us. Probably had two guys who athletically deserve to be at this tournament and they were in the back three.

We looked good in parts, and really should have won comfortably if we'd taken our chances in the final quarter. But we kinda fell apart in the final 10min. and should have lost really if Georgia kept their patience in the final play.

I don't think the ref helped, he was so whistle happy. Both sides really got on the wrong side of him at different times.

It's odd that Bowen continues to look like a headless chicken at this level, despite looking great at pro level. He just needs to calm down and stop trying to make something out of nothing every time he gets the ball, running sideways/backwards at times and getting into trouble.

100% agree...

Big Bowen fan, but as a winger its difficult to effect the game as a leader, hes trying too hard, and causing trouble in his own ranks.

At Cardiff he has the freedom to try something everytime he touches the ball, because he only sees it 3 or 4 times per game in attacking positions, and they are usually 'go on son finish that' type passes, but with the u20s hes coming looking hard, hes trying to score from bad positions and making erratic decisions.

Cant watch todays game as hes at FB, but at 26- 0 it sounds ok if not underwhelming so far, lot of changes though which might show why we wont score 100+ like SA did on them

Only keeping half an eye on this but our lineout is utter shite. Obviously we're missing two hookers but it has massively cost us.

looks poorly coached, which is a shame given Browne is a former lock and a forwards coach.

Wasnt q bad performance v SA, biggest compliment i could give is that SA just reverted to mauling the life out if us, the height, size, weight and power advantage they had was crazy, most forwards biceps were bigger than out props thighs.

Anyway 20 point loss, but some great stuff played in attack, even our defence system wise was ok, the scramble put bodies in the right positions, its just that those bodies were ran over.

This seems to be a well coached team, underpowered against the big boys, and i suspect they will struggle v Australia, but im excited by a number of Cardiff boys performances.

100% agree. Restarts were a huge issue though and let us down badly. Giving SA the ball and territory straight back after scoring time after time was maddening, and undermined what a very positive performance.

Bloody Rugbypass - spend a few minutes convincing my telly to accept the 1-random-digit password I had to rugbypass, and.... I can convince it to give me commentary, but the screen will only show the freezeframe for the first advert!

ETA: And now, connected laptop to the telly with an HDMI lead, and... well, it's been about 5 minutes of a red line tracing a circle in the middle, whilst I get some lunch and a cuppa - I not terribly hopeful.
10 minute, several refreshes, and given up - Youtube doesn’t seem to have the full match. Tennis it is, then - think I'll start with Fery's 3rd set I missed to play rugby yesterday

Another gutsy Wales performance...

Wales were actually 20 points better than Aus, thebyellow and then red periods Aus scored all their points, kept them in the game.

Missed the game today, so I'll catch up with it shortly. Results aren't everything at this level, especially for a side like Wales who only produce a handful of decent players every cycle.

What's important for us is uncovering a number of youngsters who are/will be ready to step up to senior rugby in the next couple of seasons.

By that metric I'm pleased with what I've seen. Howe is a beast at hooker. Will Evans is a lump at lock. There's a bunch of good loosies (one or two might be too small). Leggatt Jones looks a star to me, and he's still a baby by U20 standards - things to work on, but his all round game is impressive. As is Emanuel at 12, that boy is going far! Bowen rounds off a very decent group.

Caught up on the game now. I thought we'd lost that by what you'd said Harry, and then that final disallowed try by Aus, and I was just thinking how did we lose this one. We were easily the better side, but some of our mistakes were criminal I have to say, especially at the end there. Turning the ball over twice just to hand it straight back and let them score to get back within 2.

They need to figure out how to secure the restart as it almost cost us another game. And we need to take more of our chances as we should have been about 30 up in the opening quarter if we didn't butcher a couple of guilt edged opportunities.

Snuck another one though!

Agree with the above. Decent group this. I like quite a lot of these boys but naturally they wont all make it but even if only 2 or 3 do that would be amazing.

Taking out the best Aussie player in the 11th minute took them out of the game. The hip drop tackle on Pritchard was disgraceful. There’s a reason they’re banned in the NRL. He sustained a fibula fracture and a syndesmosis injury
