Ulster vs Bath
Ravenhill
11/12/2010, 13:30

Northern Irelands stadia is poor and I suspect most other pitches will be the same as Ravenhill. Windsor park and Casement have the capcity but they are not rugby stadia and will probably be being used for other events if they are not effected by the weather.

Casement park is a GAA pitch and they forbid any foreign sports. But Ravenhill in all fairness has to be the most miserable rugby spot in ML and H'Cup. :( They always seem to be hit by the weather :)
But in game it a strange one to call and well will internationals click straight away. Bath I feel need the win but could be a tight game and will come down to who wants it

Plus Leinster don't own RDS. So IRFU would have to pay a fee for there which wouldn't be cheap as opposed to Donnybrook which is free and well can cater for crowd. I expect Ravenhill will be ready though

Bath to lose, probably no bonus point. Out of the H-Cup by Christmas and once again a season of rebuilding too look forward too.

Ever the optimist.

I am going to give the edge to bath. Mostly on a feeling that they will rise to the occasion and perform well in this HCup match, because they have been all over the place in Aviva.

Ravenhill's expected to be ready. There's been all sorts of nonsense with fans being asked to come in and shovel the snow away, and they've hired a heater from Twickers to thaw out the bit that's not ready yet.

I am really not certain about this match. It can be won, it must be won, it - looking at form, players missing/just returning from injury, home advantage - possibly should be won... and that makes me nervy.

I'll feel a lot happier if Who names Mad Willie for 7. Feel he makes a difference.

*pause* I wouldn't want to call this one in a month of Sundays. It'd be typical Ulster to go blow it from here.

p.s. squad news, Ulster aren't missing anyone except for Rory Best and Darren Cave.

Depends if you're a forwards purist or not...

Danny Grewcock - Loves a stamp/gouge/punch
Stephen Ferris - a man with a magnet in his face that seems to attract peoples studs/fingers

This'll end well! :p
Didn't Grewcock get a red for stamping on Ferris in their last meeting?

Yes he did, in the REC too, Ulster ran riot that day, more of the same please! :P

Willie Faloon on the bench, will McLaughlin ever learn?

Probably not, no. He likes his 3 big carriers and thats what he likes. I personally loathe the mindset but will learn to live with it if it brings success (probably won't though).

In fairness, Mad Willie is very small for a modern rugby back-row. If he was getting looked over for, say, a fully fit Pollock it might be a little different. I wonder how big Dominic Gallagher is...
