So was listening to Greenwood podcast this morning and mentioned he was writing a piece on an uncapped youngsters to XV/XXIII to play in this 8 nations tournament if Eddie fancied trying something new.

So was having a think on the tube this morning and thought it would be fun to test you all, knowing how much you all love a challenge and a debate ;). So my ruling for it was that the player can't have been capped in an international, (not even 1) and must not be over age of 25. Obviously if anyone wants to offer any other rules then happy to extend /include but seemed easier to work off that. Just thinking about mine now but thought fun to get it up and see what we get.

Really tough! Especially tight 5, and then a bunch of players either missing the age cut off or having a few minutes off the bench at some point
Fully admit that there's a few positions where I just put in any name I could think of rather than thinking about experience/form :p

I know! really hard and players come out the woodwork suddenly. Tight 5 seems harder as England seem to have tried everyone out there!

I went for...
1. Obano 2. Barbeary 3. Heyes 4. Kpoku 5. Moon 6. J. Willis 7. B Curry 8. Dombrandt 9. Mitchell 10. Umaga 11. Loader 12. Redpath 13. Lawrence 14 Thorley 15. Malins 16. Langdon 17. West 18. Ibuanokpe 19. Witty/George Martin 20. T Willis 21. Velacott/Randall 22. Simmonds 23. Hodge

so difficult as people like Crean, Boyce, Nott, Witty, Hinkley, Evans, Smith, Vunipola, L James, Dingwall, Earle, Steward etc are all close runners as well. Tell you what... i wouldn't be too fussed if he did do this. Some players there for sure..

The 30yr old Gloucester fullback?
Ackermann isn't EQP either
Ford-Robinson is 27, as well
I've just realised the under 25 rule lol, should have read it all haha

Ackermann is EQP tho I believe: https://lastwordonsports.com/rugby/...n-open-to-england-selection-from-next-season/

Always liked Woodward and if, as mentioned in another thread, we don't have any out and out 15s ready right now, then he might not be an awful shout.

Not sure if anyone watched Steward in Leicester game but seems very stable and secure 15 plus quite a big lump. Seems to command good amount of respect within Leicester team too, could also slot Umaga into 15 and have either Simmonds/Smith at 10

Over someone like Malins?
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo thank you
haha fair point, i even put Malins at 15 haha. Tbf i think as long as you have an alternative 10 at 15 provides versatility. Just means that offers you different needs at 12.

I almost got 2 teams out, struggling for locks that aren't capped. The recent U20 locks are Itoje, Ewels, Isiekwe etc

If they have to be 25 or under by the time the 8N starts, which is what Greenwood was talking about, then Obano will be too old. Right now he's fine.

Clarification please!

I liked what I saw of Brocklebank last season, but I haven't kept a close eye on whether he was playing regularly for them in the Championship?

Radwan and Wakecoke seemed to be doing very well for them, but I only really saw that as they were the regular try scorers.

Fun isn't it? All it seems to prove is we have one hell of a talent pool coming through and i have to say, the multiple games a week has provided such a good opportunity for youngsters to come out from the shadows and start playing more regularly. At Wasps, people like T.Willis, Barbeary, Cardall have really stood up and there's even more coming through.

This scenario almost reminds me of NZ teams where they get such an early start in the first team and playing in Mitre 10 cup with the senior players even if they can't break into first team in formerly super 15.
