Underwear

My son has just started playing rugby - he likes to wear loose fit boxers. I know this isn't advised but he feels most comfortable wearing them.

Just wondered if there was any rules against the underwear you wear for matches?

The only time I know about a rule regarding underwear was once on tour all the forwards had to wear french knickers and the backs had to wear a thong.

Haha I'd be worried if the referee was able to tell what underwear I was wearing. So no I don't think it matters. Although I do go with briefs in case I flash my balls.

I played prop and hooker, and was a bit chubby in school. I couldn't play in either boxers or briefs as it chafed my inner thighs, so I played with those ski-pant like shorts underneath my rugby shorts.

I school the skin is a bit softer so those chafed rashes burns like hell for nearly a week.
