VB series

I know Nel had a problem with some fans in one of the tests so I don't think it's the players, just interesting when Smith said that it wasn't just confined to one city, pity if it does overshadow the series cause there's been some great cricket played, the return to form of Gilchrist being one of the highlights.

yeah and the self-distructiveness from the sri lankans

what were they doing last night there were so many run outs and run out chances it was crazy.

they had a good platform wait... a great platform and they all fell over like they didnt' really feel like playing. thats just stupid, my team could have done better than that. at least they woudl have tried to stay in and not get themselves run out.

as for gilchrist, its was only 1 innings, i wouldnt get on his band waggon again so fast. he is one of my fav players but this cricket is a funny game

I was at the WACA on Tuesday. That is the greatest stuff up/collapse I have ever seen live at the WACA. Sri Lanka were looking at 300 plus. In the end South Africa did it easily. The only reason why those Wickets fell was the Proteas looking for the bonus point. Congratulations to the South African cricket team. Considering all the injures to the first choice Protea team, they did very well.

I'm very much looking forward to the Australian tour of South Africa starting in February. The only time South African crowds ever get hostile is when Australia come to town.

I thought you didn't have much time for the English as well, there wasn't a great reception in the ODI series

me? i follow all cricket. i mainly just watch australa and new zealand.
we dont get much english cricket over here.

ill watch whatever i can

and i respect them as a team (cricket not rugby)

sorry mate was replying to groen en goud's comment.

I'll generally watch any cricket that's on the box, pity that Sky don't seem to have the rights to any of the sub continent cricket or NZ unless they're playing England.

Jane McGrath diagnosed with cancer

SYDNEY, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Australia fast bowler Glenn McGrath stepped down from the team on Friday after his wife was diagnosed with cancer for a third time.

McGrath released a statement about his wife Jane's condition after pulling out of Australia's limited-overs match with South Africa in Melbourne.

The 35-year-old said he intended to resume playing for Australia but would not be available for selection while his wife began her radiotherapy treatment.

"Jane McGrath today confirmed she has a recurrence of cancer and will undergo radiotherapy treatment early next week," a statement issued by Cricket Australia said.

"As with her previous episodes, both Jane and Glenn are extremely positive that the treatment will be successful and have requested that during this time, all parties respect their privacy.

"It is Glenn's intention to continue playing with the Australian cricket team, however, his immediate concern is with his family, and he will discuss his playing schedule with Cricket Australia and team management in due course."

Australian captain Ricky Ponting told a news conference in Melbourne the whole team's thoughts were with the McGraths.

"Cricket just takes a back seat, however much time he needs he's got," Ponting said. "He's said his intention is to keep playing, but we'll just have to see how things unfold over the next weeks."

English-born Jane was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, aged 31. She underwent a mastectomy and six months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy before being given a clean bill of health.

In 2003, she was diagnosed with a secondary cancer in her hip bone while her husband was playing cricket in the West Indies.

McGrath rushed home but later rejoined the tour after a specialist said his wife's condition was not as bad as first thought and she had urged him to return.

She underwent more treatment and made another full recovery. The McGraths have two children, James and Holly, and have established their own charity foundation to raise money for more breast care nurses.

latest news is that mcgrath wont play a further part in this series and is likely to miss the tour of SA.

Third time, that's gotta be rough, no doubt he's doing the right thing, some things are more important than sport. I just wonder how easy it'll be for him to get back into the team after such a draining time emotionally, which would be worse each time it's recurred.

Could this series be any more boring? The only thing more boring for cricket right now would be for Australia to go over to South Africa and just do it all over again. Oh, wait..

Im only looking forward to the world cup and the ashes

Good luck chasing 345 SA

god saf r the most boring side 2 chase it was like they wearnt tryin to score after boucher got out

Sri Lanka will play Australia in the finals after getting the better of SA in Hobart today. Sri Lanka won by 76 runs as Marvin Attapatu top scored with 80 off 122 balls while Sangakara chipped in with 62 off 77. Bandara starred with the ball as he took 4 wickets in his 9 overs. SA collapsed from 113-4 to 181 all out and fail to make the final.

I had a feeling that Sri Lanka were going to cop it after beating the Aussies the other night.

The current score is Sri Lanka are 7/146 chasing a record aussie score of 5/368 with Symonds getting another 150+ and Murali getting smashed for 99 off his ten overs with no wickets.

was brillient to watch though :)

great stuff

and at least sl tried to chase the total saf would have shut up shop right from the start

Australia are coasting to victory in the decider at Brisbane, having been set 267 for victory, they're currently 193 without loss in the 32nd over.

What a F***ing hiding the third game is turning out to be. And here I was thinking a upset was on the cards

Gilchrist and Katich really just took control, Gilly back to his best it would seem, could make a big difference in the Ashes with an inform Gilchrist
