Wales V Argentina

Well of all the wonderful test matches this weekend, that was the worst. Slow and ponderous on may occasions. Argentina can only play what is in front of them, but in reality they never had to get out of 2nd gear. When they did increase the intensity they easily won the gain line and got the scores. In all honesty That was a training run for this pumas side.

Wales on the other hand, well you cannot fault the effort, but -Jac Morgan aside- they are so so far off. 4 tries is to put in the + column, but it can’t hide the deficiencies that they have, and it could of been worse if the Pumas had gone full bore.

A south african tries to tackle a ball carrier, misses (by a couple of things outside of his control), gets a straight red.
A welsh deliberately kicks a place where he should have known there might have been an opponent's head, he gets yellow carded.

Sugar coat it the way you want.

There's just no bite or intensity on either side of the ball.

I hate it when we play them, but - as I've said before - it's disappointing to see a great rugby nation fall so low and so hard.

I attended the match. Atmosphere was varied in quality and energy, much like Wales' performance. Yet again, Wales switched off too easily at times, though four tries against an increasingly successful Pumas team is at the very least a small mercy. Hope Jac Morgan is OK.

That was a frustrating watch. After a poor start we battled back well to get back in touch and I was quite hopeful, but those 2 scores before half time absolutely killed us. The second especially, although great but of skill by the Argentinian 6, it was still so very soft.

Second half was quite poor overall, and whilst the scoreline maybe flattered an Argentinian side that didn't have to do too much to cruise to victory, it's ultimately where we are atm.

We need to find some more grunt up front. Unfortunately Carre didn't really provide the impact I was hoping, but he was solid ough otherwise. The second rows are a real issue. What does Beard offer outside the lineout realistically? Jenkins hasn't developed at all in 3 years either, he vet's through work, but we need more than that!

I backed Mann's selection, but I was wrong! Let's get some bulk at 6. Cracknell, Moriarty, or Plumtree would offer more. Or move Wainwright and bring Alun Lawrence in who carries with real intent.

I was also hopeful we'd see the best of Ben Thomas today, but he had a shocker! Time to move on. Who to? I'm not too sure. Hawkins looked the business before he moved to Exeter, so maybe him, but he's yet to regain form, so it'd mostly be based on previous form. Bring in Kieron Williams for some go forward, but is he big enough to step up? Not sure Llewelyn was much better, one or two tackles asside.

Back 3 was a shambles today! I like Murray, but an international fullback he 'ain't. He had a shocker again under the high ball. Rogers and Adams were poor too. I' d be tempted to test Beetham at 15, who's got the frame to do well. Then LRZ and Murray on the wings.

Finally, hope Morgan's OK, looked serious though. Harry Deaves in as a replacement if necessary. He'll bring some needed dog!

Bring Reffell in for Morgan, throw Mann out and get Deaves in. Show Thomas the door and get Williams. Start playing Rhys Davies and some players (like the ones I’ve mentioned) who actually have some dog in them. It won’t change results but should keep score lines more close or at least be more entertaining.

Kin hell, Moriarty would’ve been 10 times more effective than Mann today.

To give Mann credit, he can tun around uselessly looking for cheap shots, and flopping on rucks for days, thats impressive.

But seriously, agree with most of this, except Keiran Williams, lets not add more midgets to a small team.

I thought llewellyn looked ok, defencively and carried a bit.

Ive slaughtered Thomas a few times and written him off, then he had a very mature gamr for Cardiff recently and I thought maybe hes developing, what a ******* dick i am!

I think we can all agree we have 4 international standard players in Morgan, Wainright, Tomos and LRZ.

I think we have some who might get there Lake, Jenkins, Edwards and Lleeellyn.

The rest is a mix of over the hill, clubmen and potential.

The worst thing Tandy can do now is chase results desperately, we all saw whata damage that did with Pivacs tenure.

We need to start from scratch and build, but most importantly we need to erase Sheratt and his expansive attacking gameplan, its not going to work at this level, as at least 5 tries proved yesterday!

I'm not sure the attacking game plan was at fault particularly, in fact we looked more threatening than we have done for a long time (aside from one period in the second half when we went side to side a few times without going anywhere).

Our issues yesterday very much centred around our inability to deal with the aerial game, and getting out flanked on the edges far too easily.

You'd expect Tandy as a defense coach to adjust the defensive system. For me we need to be more aggressive here, similar to how Cardiff have been this season, to cut teams off more in midfield.

The aerial side could be tougher to fix, as it'll rely on a change of personnel. Saying that, the Arg kicking game was exceptional yesterday, every kick was contestable, so we may not come up against many better. Teams will target us though if we continue with Murray at fullback!
