Will Wales ever get in a RWC final ?

If automatic qualifying is the same then the top 12 go through. Having said that, I still feel Wales should beat Georgia and Samoa above them. Depends on if they get a pool of death. Even then, I'd sure they'd qualify still. However, how would their season and finances be affected if they missed automatic and instead of touring they have to play qualifying matches? It would be interesting to find out.

Qualifying for Europe clashes with the Six Nations doesn't it?

If it's the same "top 3 in pool" automatically qualify, then that's now 18 teams.

Otherwise things get messy where you can qualify for the R16 knockouts but not the next cup

If Wales is still ranked 13+ in December then they'll be in pot 3, and whichever group gets Wales will be the pool of death

That said, the pot 2 team in that pool has a 50% chance of being Fiji/Samoa or Georgia (maybe Japan) rather than Argentina/Scotland or Italy

If Argentina crush it this Rugby Championship, then Australia+England+Wales in 1 group is still a possibility (albeit unlikely, and gaining 5.6 rankings points is a big ask, no pressure Argentina!)

Even then, 3rd in pool can get into the knock-outs and roll the dice.
