American Samoan pro-wrestler Eki Fatu has died in Houston of a heart attack.

The 36-year-old, who found fame with World Wrestling Entertainment under the name "Umaga", was found unconscious at his Texas home on Friday, by his wife.

He was rushed to hospital however had a fatal heart attack before arrival.

Fatu was known for his facial tattoos, and came from a family of wrestling. His uncles had success in wrestling in the 1970s and 80s, with their double act "The Wild Samoans".

Known by other nicknames such as "The Samoan Bulldozer" and "The Samoan Savage", Fatu also claimed fame in the form of his cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who left wrestling to pursue an acting career.

Following his refusal to go into rehab after a second violation of WWE's drug policy, Fatu was released from his contract earlier this year.

A few days prior to his death, Fatu had returned from an Australian tour with Hulk Hogan

Shock, horror, a WWE wrestler dying of a heart attack when they have form with drugs.

Sad news, but that's the risk you pay for taking them.

Yeah, the early deaths of Eddie Garero and Mr Perfect really should have warned people, so it is a shame to see it continue. Sad new though, and my condolences.

Sad news, but unfortunately he had his chance to get professional help paid for by the WWE and decided he'd rather get fired instead of the mandatory rehab.

Yeah it is sad and you would think it would be a warning but they keep taking them! And for this guy to take them is crazy as he was a naturally big strong guy why take drugs to increase what you already have! A real shame and a real loss so young.

Apparently it was somatropin, a growth hormone. That's what he got caught with the last time by the WWE.

Just coz he Tombstoned O'Driscoll on the field, no need to go calling him a wrestler.
