I believe the Sharks can beat the Warriors today. If i look at what happened with the SA side last night then i should probably go and change my predictions. But hope is nice.
Didn't watch the Bulls game but how much did they struggle with the wind?
Wind was inconsequential. It was their decision making and lack of composure which cost them the game.
Not massively I'd say. Weather got a bit nasty towards the end but practically tropical for the sportsground. Right on Lough Atalia it's usuay ******* Baltic. You'd want to wrap up if you ever visit.
In all honesty rough conditions should have suited the bulls with a big close quarters pack, but it didn't. Wasteful with possession, made some nice line breaks they didn't capitalise from and as I already said the discipline was poor. Connacht grew into the game to be fair to them after starting really poorly. Defense was extremely quick off the line and their centres (Tom x2) in particular started to punch holes as the game went on.
Sounds like edinburgh game was a cracker
I dont know whats happening, this Sharks team is not as bad as this. Something is off.

So Glasglow leads 28 -10 going into halftime. Utterly dominating every aspect of the game.
I have a few takeaways. This is very uncharacteristic of the Sharks and I don't buy the "need to acclimatise first argument"

- We are missing very easy tackles that you normally would not miss. Guys like Kok who is a seven one on one specialist is like a turnstile in this game as is the rest of the team
- This fast pitch will suit our running playstyle, yet we play a pick and go style not associated with this team, while the opposition is making use of fast running opportunities.
- We got a penalty advantage, instead of trying to make something happen, they just immediately kick to the middle of the field to force the penalty, why not make use of the advantage? This is very very questionable
- Glasgow is constantly being allowed through small gaps in the middle of your defensive line. We think they go wide then they go to the middle and we don't stop them, then they go wide and we decide to defend inwards forcing the overlap every time.
- We are literally losing all the setpieces.
- When we have the ball they are making very dodgy decisions, such as when Bosch received the ball on his own line and tried to run it, he got tackled and Glasgow scored, or when we decided to go for a pick and go on their line when we could have taken the scrum or Lineout (Which admittedly we can't win). Another dodgy decision was when we got a penalty on the halftime mark, we are behind by far 28 -7 at this point, but they go for the poles... wtf is the players thinking do they have absolutely no composure?
- Are the Sharks ( and by extension the rest of the sa teams) in Shock by the much stricter refereeing found in the URC than in the Currie Cup and Super rugby? The ref like to blow for everything, I think our players are very surprised, usually in Super rugby most of the stuff that was called would have been let go.
- Cant keep the ball without knocking for longer than two phases. Usually, we can go 13+ phases.
- Every decision we make results in a penalty for Glagow.
It's minute 50 and not a single thing has gone in our way. We lose our lineout, then somehow get it back just to immediately knock it again.
Our leadership at this point needs to be questioned. Heads will need to drop. If Everit cant turn things around before the tour ends he needs to be sacked.
Buthelezi is out of his depth as captain at the moment

Agree seem like they have no idea what to do when they have the ball and just cannot tackle or want to

As John said still better than the atrocity the Sharks delivered. Roos is showing again and again how he is a future Springbok. Stormers at least showed some good intensity and intent with ball in hand.
Sa teams cant deal with momentum swings when ref starts blowing. They cant turn it around, instead just increase the penalty count.
Well thank absolute **** we started playing eventually. Pack all dug in well. O'Mahony and Coombes were our best players. Some stupid stupid play in the first part of the game, but fightback was good. Won't get many style points, but anyway when you're chasing a game you will always revert to type. Love to see RG get a try and the cheers to boot. Think that Healy deserves a few starts now. Carbery falling off tackles like crumbs off a croissant.
Stormers I though were really good to start and I thought we'd lost it after 25 minutes. Did not handle the momentum swing at all and didn't dig in. Again when the decisions went against them they couldn't stop the bleed. Some nice, nice backs though. Gellant will light this league up a bit for sure. Think they should have left their starting 10 on unless he was hurt. Their 8 was quite good and their sub 9 caused issues. Fitness again I think cost them here. Don't think they deserved to leave completely empty handed

2. South African club sides are not the best tourers but this time it is more difficult with new stadiums new pitches, including 4d and different weather conditions.
3. The Northern Hemisphere referees referee the game slightly differently.
In the long run I expect the South African teams to end up on a par with the Welsh team. I don't think they will be as good as the Irish teams.

Yeah, Ulster were really scrappy in attack - missing Duane Peel, perhaps? - but fortunately Zebre were very poor. They defended well to begin with, but they couldn't keep it up, and they never offered anything much in attack.
Gilroy's an excellent player. Stockdale and Baloucoune may be more impressive athletically, but Gilroy plays smart.
It just seemed like they couldn't work three phases without a handling error. Even Gilroys two bits of magic were off wayward passes he managed to turn into heads up play. Maybe missing Peel alright or maybe just early season rust.

We have had some great advertisements for this new tournament so far. And then we had Dragons v Leinster.
Dragons defense was immense to be fair. Their first up tackles were ferocious and really knocked Leinster off their stride. They were also great at the breakdown. Still some uncharacteristic errors from Leinster though.
Shame Dragons couldn't really fire a shot in attack though. Poot lineout + basic handling errors really meant they never got going.
An encouraging base to work off for Dragons though. For too long they've let themselves down with lapses in defense leading to easy scores for the opposition. Just need to get the backline going where they've got some talent too.
