Ireland v England - 19 August 2023

Interesting team, there'll be a lot of shade thrown Byrne's way but if Crowley can come on at 10 and be solid he could grab the 22 shirt which is all thats up for grabs right now anyway and a shirt that I think Byrne has for the time being.

Should win fairly handy although England are in the sort of position that could spur a bit of a turnaround to their play, Dublin is a tricky place to do it but there's precedent.

Strong Ireland side; should be another big defensive battle between both sides. England's error count should drop from last weekend

Is Farrell available for selection for this game?
Presumably, it'll depend on when the meeting is convened. If they get it in this week, then you'd have to assume he's banned; if not, then he's technically available, but SB would be stupid to select him (deselect him, and argue it as time served when the actual ban comes in).

If he’s available he should be selected for Saturday’s game because the media outrage will be huge (understandably so) and it would be better to get it over with in Ireland rather than France.

That's what I thought also. Stand him down and argue that it should count towards any ban he might get.

PS This in reply to WTs post.

I say don't start him as even if he does still avoid a ban we should assume he'll get another one as he clearly doesn't know how to ******* tackle.

That could be interpreted as a f@&k you to WR and might result in a harsher ban if the appeal succeeds. Importantly I'm not sure that it would impress many English fans either, most of whom seem to be even more outraged with the rescinding of the card than fans elsewhere. In their current less than favourable financial position would the RFu be willing to risk a backlash.

I’m sure Owen ‘trained’ really well but surely on form from the two games Ford deserves a start with OF at 22.

What’s the point in playing well for Ford only to be bench and what’s the lesson to the squad of Farrell plays poorly and is kept starting.

Although either way we get spanked by Ireland, I’m not sure they will be heated by our kick chase tactics. Hopefully SB had addressed it this week but I get the impression that SB will trust his systems even though they have failed him so far.
