Lions - Six Nations 2025 Auditions

View attachment 23337

The duality of man as represented by an Irish fan on the left v a French / English fan on the right.

I mean all a matter of perspective innit fam
England in 2023 had 2 win and then 3 wins in 2024
Ireland was coming off back to back competition trophies

Also Chad Smith -> Betagast

Sexton has dawg though. Not too much of that in the squad options.

Ireland have won 3/4 triple crowns in the period and won both games against triple crown opponents outside of the six nations in the Lions period, it'll be hard to be bias with those results justifying a lot.

Sexton obviously was mostly involved in that as a player but it's hard to believe he didn't have heavy input in how things were done. I reckon he's as much a personality pick as a coaching one. And as laughable as that might look at first glance, only one player in his entire career has commented negatively about playing or working with him with plenty praising him in that regard.

They should have the rule that you must have had the citizenship before 18 to go. So anyone who wasn’t a British or Irish citizen at 18 should be left out but of course they won’t

I don't get the whole Sexton hate. Like not his biggest fan but he has been 1 of the best 10's the past decade. However not all great players make great coaches. Sexton I think will be a massive success or huge failure. His personality will decide that as he has a huge ability to rub people up the wrong way and how he delivers messages in that Coach/Player dynamic will be interesting.

An interesting take was how Sextons career finished as a player:
- With Leinster abusing a ref
- With Ireland reportedly going out with bit of ego and the Reiko craic
- With the Lions - Being omitted in 2021 was a very sour note.

There is a thought process he is trying to have positive changes to negative endings as a player in all these setting.

Selection input will be fun too.
Sexton ddoesn't rate Marcus Smith or Finn Russell. He has been open and clear on that

The whole Reiko thing gave the impression he's got a bit of a fragile ego. Not that I know him or anything but I'm betting he will be pushing for rentaghost to be the test 10 and has probably been selected to nurture him which I don't have a problem with if he's the best but I've not seen that from him yet. Just hope it's not treated as a Leinster/Ireland development tour.

Not a slight on Sexton either but I do think Leinster will have 10 or 11 alone on tour if not more. Prendergast nearly certain to be 1 of 10s and 2 Leinster hookers. Wouldn't say it development but more rest need to learn our style than blending in to 1 for tour
