What a fricking waste of money before an "underwhelming" crowd. That's a lot of money that could have been used to actually help our veterans.

Go argue with a LLM

President Trump was the driving force behind the parade—he first pushed the idea after admiring the Bastille Day celebration in Paris in July 2017, saying he wanted to "try and top it" . He revived the idea during his first term, proposing a Veterans Day parade in 2018 with Pentagon resistance—then tried again with a July 4 "air parade" concept in 2020— and finally succeeded with this 2025 Department of the Army “birthday parade” .

TL;DR

RoleDetails

Idea OriginPresident Trump, inspired by Bastille Day in 2017
Planning/OrganizationArmy MDW & senior Army leaders, White House Task Force 250
Final ApprovalTrump, White House, Pentagon, Army Secretary—with some internal resistance from figures like Mattis

Go argue with a LLM

Im not arguing, I'm genuinely trying to find out.

I know Trump was inspired by Bastille day, and I read about the task force being created.

I also remember reading about Biden and Bowser heading a project in discussion with the US army about it, but it's amazing that there is literally nothing on the Internet outside of Trump arranged it within a couple of months, which is impossible to believe.

There is 0% chance Democrats wouldn't have used it as a public event in an attempt to call Trump a dictator, they have lawmakers instigating violence outside of detention centres, one just charged a briefing room, some have gone to El Salvador to have cocktails with gang members etc...

This was at minimum an 18 month plan, including every politician in Washington signing off on it. Either Trump set it up, and Biden failed to kill it, or Biden was involved in it, or the Army were planning it outside of the office of the presidents knowledge?

Baffling situation all round!

I eagerly await the battle of the crowd size, Trump will say 250k, the media will say 5k lol..

No you aren't, because if you were you would've just spent 15 seconds googling it

Literally just stated that there is nothing online outside of the idea a parade was created in a few months, which is a stupid idea.
