USA news & politics

Being in a gang isn't a form of sexuality.

If politicians are going to use race, sexuality or any other labels when talking about shooters, rapists or whatever then let's agree what these are and use them consistently.

Please quote where I said it was a sexuality? I think your inferring something that isn't there...

The fact is Trans people have a myriad of mental health issues, now the science determining whether trans people are born of disorders or mental illness, or whether mental health degrades by the confusion or external influences is not clear, both people either side of the argument use whatever stats they like.

Republicans will use this trans (i have no idea i havnt read about the incident yet) shooter as their political weapon, the Democrats will use the last, or next straight white boy as their political weapon, either way its nefarious and doesnt help long term.

Look at Parkland, David Hogg was held upon high as the great Democrat hope, pushed to all around, agree with us or your a child hating monster... only to then fire him from his low level role for being too straight and white.

Any examples of this. Not saying you're wrong just can't think of any. The only person I can think of, which wasn't related to a school shooting, was what's his name (Rittenhouse?)

He was definitely used politically by both sides. Most white boys get a pass as they're labled mentally ill. If you're black/brown and in a gang then you're evil/scum of the earth.

Yeah misleading this and that. It's still more than almost every developed nation.

Interestingly the whole of the Americas is pretty rife with gun crime apart from Canada.

I agree but it's just different. Canada has 40 million people. America, like Canada, is huge but has 340 million people.

More importantly though, because the Canadians weren't a bunch of rebellious scoundrels, their culture didn't go into the crazy direction America went in so it never became a problem in the first place. Americas history and culture is steeped in rebellion and guns.

You labelled all other shootings as gang related in a discussion where a shooter had been labelled as trans. Its just not an apples v apples comparison IMO. It's really not that complicated.

As a Canadian friend once put it "if you have to drive an hour in freezing snow to kill your neighbor you kind of loose the will to do it"

I mean, when most developed countries have given up their guns, the last remaining one of course is going to have a higher shoot count. So that comparison isnt fair, also the south Americas range from 5× to 10x the rates dont they?

It kind of makes you a bit more empathetic to the immigration issue, seeing Mexicos homicide rates

Really? I thought I answered a question about the who the remaining 285 of 286 mass shootings were caused by.

I didnt make a comparison, I didnt say 'all other' i definately think your making inference that isnt there.

I like the Jim Jeffries joke where he said everyone should have muskets as the best thing about muskets is that it gives you enough time to calm down.

Some problems don't have solutions. Having said that they could at least make things better and just ban military grade assault rifles and what not.

Im pretty sure there already are bans on fully auto, and assault rifles that are military grade, both federally of 20 years and state wise recently?

I mean Parkland, Sandy Hook, Uvalde were all used to push political legislation regarding guns, but more recently Illan Omar a few years ago made comments about the US needing to be fearful of white men due to their extremist tendency for violence (or some quote like that), not to mention using children involved as political shields to push their message.

Its a pretty regular pattern tbf, both sides of the isle do it, whats the

Are the semi automatic rifles the real problem? I know it looks stupid when you have people walking around McDonald's with AR-15s but are hand guns the biggest cause of death and most deaths are suicides? Not got the stats to hand.

Mmmm, that’s different though. Your original claim was how they use individuals. What you just cited there were incidents.

Yeah I think you’re right actually. Isn’t the biggest threat still suicide as well? I might be making that up (in fact I think I got it from Jim Jeffries. lol)

Not to be that guy, but handguns are semi automatic, one trigger pull one bullet. Very few are upgraded.

But this is the issue with gun conversations, brits generally dont understand what these terms mean (no im not blaming you) and there is a conflation, infact a lot of non gun owners or anti gun lobbyists either are ignorant or utilise the conflation.

Hand guns are 100% a massive issue, involved with vast majority of gun deaths.

Suicide is a different issue all together IMO
