You have to remember who the opposition is... the wallabies are generally a very strong Rugby team by international standards, but the sport is still quite niche here and a couple injuries will completely disrupt most wallaby squads. We suffer a serious lack of depth stemming from a professional infrastructure that doesn't extend beyond the Super 14/15 teams and as a result the pool of talented full time professionals is very small. Also, it's worth pointing out that one of the titles the Springboks got (2004 I think) was actually won on f&a as all three sides had won all their home games, meaning the thing would otherwise have been drawn.

Essentially what we have with the Tri Nations in Union represents the opposite of what existed in the Tri Nations in Rugby League. In that competition Australia was occasionally beaten by the odd Kiwi side or English side (not very often though - the English are intimidated by the Kangaroos and never seem to beat them), but basically have too much depth for the competition to be all that even.
This is essentially the case with the Union. The All Blacks just have too much depth and the side is too well drilled for anything but the odd victory by the Wallabies or Springboks. Though with the strength of SA rugby likely to only increase, this may change in the future. What will happen to Australia is anybody's guess as the game has lost serious headway to Rugby League over the past 5 years.

NZ's hold on Rugby supremacy will be interesting to watch over the next 5-10 years... with Argentina entering the Southern Hemisphere comp. (Four Nations) It will really improve their game. Playing three tests against the three best teams in the world every year is an awesome opportunity for them. And the NH Teams are closing the gap. Once they have some key players who really play well (under the new laws) they will definitely start to put pressure on NZ, SA and AUS.

You're right at the first, a home and away game vs. each country, kind of like the Tri-Nations before 2007 (or 2006, I cannae mind)

What's more interesting than that, providing there will only be two tests instead of three Bledisloe Cup test (there were four this year, so that may reduce it back down to a respectable three), is that a team would have to win both matches, or at least one with a more significant margin(?), in order to take the Cup off of the defending champions.

Margins don't come into in a two-test Bledisloe.

I read somewhere that there was going to be 3 tests for the Bledisloe? Don't quote me though...
