Transfers Rumours

They seem to do well with Murphy and Greenwood was none too shabby either.

Greenwood's history and Murphy the exception that proves the rule. Elsewise, Leicester seem unerringly to go straight towards big for their backs when presented with the option, with the exception of Anthony Allen who's very physical for his height.

Of course, if the rumour's true, he'll be replacing Murphy long term. I can't decide whether Cockers is a stark raving madman or a genius.

I can't for the life of me see how you thought I was endorsing Allen as a full-back.

Ian Nagle was rumoured to be signing for Northampton. It's not going to happen now:

Ian Nagle, a late call up to the Ireland Wolfhounds squad, will start this Friday night against Scotland A joining Devin Toner in the second row partnership.

News of the 22 year old's selection comes just after he has committed to Munster, having agreed a two year deal.

Good. We need players of Nagle's quality and potential to continue their development in Ireland so they can build links with the national team much as Nagle has just done.

The Irish Indo is saying Leinster are close to capturing Jamie Hagan with Mike Ross potentially moving to Munster.

If true, it's a great deal for Munster. Ross is an excellent scrummager, is from Munster and will hold up the weakest part of their team for two years. From Leinster's perspective, Hagan isn't yet on Ross' level but is improving rapidly, is from Leinster and he'll split time with a fit again Stan Wright. Leinster will be slightly weaker in the short term but stronger a year on. Munster will immediately improve. It's win-win for those provinces but a bitter pill for Connacht.

If Leinster sign Hagan to go with Cronin, I suspect Connacht will get anywhere from 3-6 prospects from Leinster in return.

Can say it is true we are looking at Ross and have been for bit. He is a Mallow man and I think he'd be very interested in a return and we need him alot more than Leinster do :).
On the Nagle scoop I said a few days ago that he is very close to signing a full contract and expect that to be announced soon. I believe that everything is agreed just waiting to get chance to sign dotted line. Also a few lads were called in and told they are free to find new clubs. These include Fogarty, Barry Murphy and I've been told that Ian Dowlings been considered

Why Murphy?

Murphy on a decent wage and probably doesn't represent value for money as he is a fringe player and if player finds a decent offer else where then he is free to take it

I agree, Dowling is a very limited player- a winger with no pace and with no nose for the try line will struggle to find a top club. RFU Championship or squad player for a low level Premiership club is about his standard.

He is a strong player and well I always though he'd have been alot more successful as a Rugby League player but let's not forget he has time left on his contract and we won't pay him off just will allow him to find a club
