Steve Diamond said he's "closing in" on getting Xavier Rush from Blues to Sale

Rush hasn't been his usual self this season for the Blues. He's been ok, but not great. In hindsight they should have just let him go to Ulster instead of spending all the money they did buying him out of his contract etc. (or did Rush cover that cost himself?). If it's true that he's going then the Blues have gotta find a replacement, as I can't think of anyone else ready to step in!

What kind of terms did Andy Powell leave Cardiff on?
Apparently he's left Wasps "by mutual consent" - could head back home?
Though Cardiff may not want to take a risk on him (though many other clubs might not want to, so they could snag him on the cheap)

Powell left on good terms he said he wanted to play more first team rugby and was honest about it, never let the Blues down either on the pitch. Would be away WC time but again be a good time to blood a youngster then.

Rumours circulating that Rush is leaving the Blues because he has found a woman in the Manchester area, apparently he's known as a womaniser a bit of a lothario if you want.

He left Cardiff Blues with Dai Young saying

Let's have the full quote out now, because cutting that part out is slightly misleading:

Dai Young said:
Blues coach Dai Young had earlier said that both parties felt it was in their best interests if they parted company.

"Last season has been a difficult one for Andy following the unwise incident with the golf buggy, he's lost his way somewhat," said Young.

Cardiff would have been better off with Delve than Rush.
I hear they did offer Delve a contract, but he opted for the Rebs. Can't blame him.

Offered him a competitive deal, Delve was always going to go to the Rebels because he was never really going to feature regularly for Wales which is a shame.

Indeed. He had bad luck with injuries as well.
He was on The Rugby Club last week saying quite a few players here asked him about going to the SH.

Sounds about right. Whenever I've seen him down the Vale he's always been chatting to some stonking blonde, the lucky *******!

Naa, the only time I've seen him down the bay was at Signor Valentino's with a guy, who I joked was his gay lover but hopefully not loud enough for him to hear me 3 tables away!! :p

If Powell is available on the cheap, the Blues should snap him up. I looked through their squad last night and couldn't see another 8 apart from Rush atall. Pretorius could play there, but he's a 6 really. I also can't remember Dai young trying a youngster in that position in recent years either!

Not sure if any of these reports have been posted here, but here's some info:

According to Southwest, Daniel Caprice was on the Basque Coast early this week to negotiate a contract with Biarritz Olympique. According to Laurent Rodriguez, negotiations are "on track".

Napolioni Nalaga is reportedly set to return to Clermont after the World Cup.

Jonathan Thomas will not come to Perpignan next season. According to the British press, the third liner refused to engage talks with USAP. He preferred to sign a new contract for three years with the Ospreys.
