First match this saturday against Eastern Provice.

The Argentine team competing in the South African rugby contest has tied at 20 with Eastern Province Kings. The victory was close, but the match was fairly equal.
Pampas had a chance to win the game, thanks to the physical response of its members never stopped looking for his chances, which were crystallized with Manuel Montero's try giving a slight advantage to 20-17 with five remaining.

But a lot of defensive errors made it loose the chance, and with a penalty kick the home side managed to get a draw and in the discount.
In general terms it wasn´t a good game for the argentinians, they alternate a good hand game with good tackles, but they made lot of penalties suffering the physical rigor of the southafrican maul.

On the second date of the Vodacom Cup, came the first victory of the Standard Bank Pampas XV, 22-17 on SWD Eagles. It improved defensive play despite that suffered two interception tries; Montero was again star of the team and promises to be one of the great protagonists of Argentine rugby in the near future.
I leave a brief summary of the match courtesy of ESPN.

Western Province became the bete noire of the Pampas XV, defeating them for 3rd consecutive time.
The game started in favor of the Argentines with a great performance from Senatore and Landajo, make the score 17-5 early in the second period.
But from that moment began the defensive problems of the Pampas (as usual) and a very weak performance in fixed formations, allowed the South African team to turn the scoreboard and win the game by 28-17.
(Watch the first try from Montero, perhaps we are seeing a future international rugby star)

He's a good player, and is the only big Welsh style back that Argentina have. But Argentina are overflowing with wingers currently. Imhoff, Camacho, Agulla, Amorosino and Montero are all options, whilst youngster Cordero is one of the most exciting prospects and has an amazing sidestep.

I think the coaches need to seriously consider teaching one of them (Agulla or Montero would be best suited) to play at #13 as there are very few centre options and too many wing options currently.

With his mind set on the quarter-final match against Pumas, Pampas XV suffered another defeat, this time against Sharks XV (the best team in the competition) by 46-31.

Altough its the 3rd stringers of WP a lot of great sides got beaten by them like the All Blacks twice, Wallabies, British and Irish Lions three times where the in 1924 was actually given test status and drew with England. Only team to do the 5 over all the Kiwi Super Unions in 2010
