Obviously underrated S.A. Presidents a bit good team. From what I could see as the stream kept ****ing up the second half from us was a lot better and we really should have had a penalty try in the second half after those series of scrums where he yellow carded your man, but we got the try in the end so can't complain too much although Keatley would have got the conversion if it was a penalty try.

Without wanting to sound like a sore loser (And I know that's pretty much unavoidable in the wake of a loss if i go down this line of quesitoning) what is the point of this tournament for Ireland, or even South Africa for that matter. The opposition is, if the scores are anything to go by, nothing better than the average Pro 12 side, yet we're cutting out young lads' season breaks short for these games. Are they learning anything they wouldn't at home? Debatable.

The benefit of a good preseason cannot be overstated. It's the only time during the calendar year that coaches and players can look at their strength and conditioning and what parts of their game need to be changed. In a climate where we are seemingly constantly debating whether players play too much these games seem to serve no point but to pander to they whims of the IRB with regard to giving the Tier 2 nations some end of season scrap games.

Looking at the Ireland side we just put out, does Niall Morris need another couple of games after a full Premiership season? Michael Bent needs to have a summer of hard coaching and conditioning in the Leinster setup, not more games after more than 12 months straight rugby. Similar arguments can be made for Rhys Ruddock, Tiernan O'Halloran, Ian Keatley, etc.

A good preparation for Georgia before the test v Argentina (22/06). Some new players tested, including a 19 years old prop and a fly half who played for Georgia U18 3 month ago

Romania has won the IRB Nations Cup for the second year in a row, after defeating Emerging Italy 26-13. Romania is undefeated after 8 matches this year and has managed to win the tournament despite using an experimental squad without some of the best players and with a lot of debutants being tested. Good signs for Romanian rugby and nice to see a full stadium in Bucharest after many years.

In the other match of the day, Argentina Jaguars got a consolation win after 30-17 against Russia, who finished bottom.

I didn't even know SA had a side in this tournament . Can't say I've ever heard of the players. Whatever happened to a proper emerging Boks squad?

Edit; I know 2 SA players namely Wilmaure Louw who is a utility back for the Wildeklawer Griquas (at least 1 Currie cup player even if he isn't a starter and not playing for a big union) and Michael van Vuuren who I see is playing for Italy. I might have the wrong Michael van Vuuren though as the one I know of played hooker and was a SA junior player in the IRB JRWC so should not be available for Italy?


Edit again; I don't see any value for SA but don't mind the tourney as the SA players playing won't be missed in the Vodacom cup and seemingly they are decent enough opposition for the likes of Georgia and Romania; not too strong and an 'on-level' challenge ATM it seems. So its a chance for those boys to see a bit of the world which is never a bad thing IMO while not a hamper to actual SA rugby.

so many people don't understand the reason for these two cups... well its simple, until your unions stop being money hogs and play rugby way any SPORT is supposed to be played(start arranging real test games vs teams like romania russia uruguay georgia outside world cup) IRB decided to make a "consolation" cup where their low tier sides will play our low tier sides so we are not completely separated from rest of the rugby world... you don't want this cup ? great! neither do we, come with your main teams and lets play real game eh ? no ? well then stop complaining and get on with your life.

And it was still more fun then Lions tour... wtf is lions tour for, its boring as hell no point waste of time yet everyone talks about it if its a world cup or something...



EDIT: in Georgia fans have to wait whole year to get couple of rugby games and we are all looking forward to it for months... whereas in other parts of the world you get 100s of games each year
