The job he did for London was to continue with Ken's policies as far as he could, then swan around promoting himself. Actually, he should have put the latter first, as that's the way the time management played out: Boris first, London second.

As for what May sees in him, it is not necessarily an effective Foreign Minister. Increasingly Prime Ministers have sought to do that job themselves and having a very lazy man in the role may well make that easier for her. She may also have done it in the belief that she needed him close to head off any plotting and that Foreign Minister was a place where he'd do the least damage.

If we want a positive case for him, then he's popular which is nice to have next to you, and apparently plays well in Asia. But I did find the negative cases a lot easier to think of.

Let's hope this isn't another masacre. It's not quite as bad as Deutsche Herbst just yet because that was complete madness, but Germany sure does seem to be having a lot of trouble recently. Not very surprising for a country which is synonymous with Europe and is so diverse but at odds with itself. Very glad to live where I do right now. TV running aince I got back home from work. Eight people dead so far plus a scary movie from somebody opening fire at random people in front of a McD's...
Nobody knows anything yet, but currently it looks like one shooter ans there's a video in which he can bee seen + heard yelling in German, that's he's German, been to a closed unit and lived on welfare.
But everything's pretty chaotic and nobody knows anything.
Shooter reported dead and on the loose same time.

Not a single German media reported that (not even the ones you could bet on they would) plus German police did not say anything in this direction.
Pretty sure it was misinformation. Police got couple of hundreds reports by private people and videos / social media. Pretty sure 98% of those will be bulls.

Infact you go over history in the UK and even recent weeks and you'll see its very rarely immigrants. Last mass shooting was in Cumbria 2010 (wasn't done by an immigrant). So think we are fine on gun control laws. As to foreign nationals committing atrocities.

Last time was the Lockerbie bombing and before that we had far far more to fear from those lovable Irish rogues the IRA.
