[RWC2019][Pool B] Round 1 - New Zealand vs. South Africa (21/09/2019)

Rugby won't ever be a 'world game' until there is actual competition.

New Zealand will walk this world cup at a canter.

Congratulations on winning the least accurate statement of the day award.
That would rate as the most mediocre game of rugby I have seen in years, I wasn't inspired by either team although it is hard to analyze given NZ more or less sent the main team sightseeing for the second half.

Well, least enjoyable game of the tournament so far for me. Not that it was the worst game I've ever seen and that 5 minute spell by NZ was really something to behold but not a meaningful game given the group and a little disappointing from SA.

Onwards, what a day overall though.

Great heads up game of rugby with great athletes. Not massively intelligent for the most part though. That five minute spell NZ had was the best rugby I've seen in 4 years though.
Calm down mate, did you miss Eden Park?

A run of the mill All Blacks side beat a surprisingly poor Springbok side.

let's put a fiver on it?

So only just watched the end as I had to pop out for 10 minutes... quite surprised that Ardie didn’t get the MOTM, thought he looked great today.

I got 6 for the Team of the Tourny and he’s been the stand out for me there so far... long way to go though of course.

If that is the best both teams have to offer neither of them will win it.

I lost interest in the game with the SA dropkick as it showed they had run out of ideas and spent the rest of the second half flicking between the game and the Shawhank Redemption.

See, I could use this as evidence that New Zealand fans are smugly confident and don't appreciate the performances their side puts in...

But I won't :)

In a way it could be argued that by losing South Africa have managed to find an easier route to the final!

Get busy living or get busy dying.

Missed the second half because I had to go out. So glad it didn't get embarrassing with a huge defeat. Penalty count from SA always too high, they haven't won world cup opening game since 2011.

Well I’m glad we won but not altogether convincing.

Some of the pointless kicking was so frustrating and kept putting us under pressure with a vulnerable defensive line. Showed how much easier you make it in yourself when you hold the ball right at the end.

In saying that we coped with their fast start reasonably well and took those chances.

Kolbe is just phenomenal by the way, you Saffas are lucky to have him!

There is some real cry babies in here.

South Africa gave away a lot of penalties while All Blacks Discipline was outstanding.

The All Blacks will be policed harder than any other team at the world cup.

Do you really believe for the good of the game that World Rugby wants the All Blacks to win another world cup?

Kieran Read called the ref 'gutless' for not putting the man in the bin for a terrible foul. Stoped a crucial All Blacks try.

South Africa could of been penalised even worse as several times they were offside.

Bad news is All Blacks are only playing at 70%

You won't see the proper tactics until the QF at least.

South Africa also look unwilling to run the ball and more willing to kick and force mistakes.

Not sure that type of football will a world cup.

I can't see it beating a tuned up All Blacks side in the finals stage.
