[RWC2019][Semi-Final 1] England vs. New Zealand (26/10/2019)

Impressive stuff from England. That was a thrashing, even if the scoreboard didn't quite reflect it. NZ generally looked poor and that is full credit to England's relentless defense, dominant breakdown work and excellent kicking game.

England unlucky not to score at least one more try, and NZ lucky with the try they did score.

England will be tough to beat in the final.
its because of our boring style. But we’ll have gatland in a couple of years.

Said it for years but Owen Farrell is a true world class player and superb leader but also Underwood is going to be a world player of year

Strange match to praise Farrel, he missed tackles, dropped a couple of balls to start with, then got injured and was anonymous most the game. George Ford had a fantastic match, very talented player.

Underhill and Curry are monsters.

He put some descent shots in and was gritty and stuck with it despite struggling, wasn’t his best game but wouldn’t say he was poor.

Last week I thought the ABs would dick on us. The closer the game got and the teams were announced I felt I just wanted a good contest and then who knows after that. Didn’t imagine such a stonking performance like that from England. So chuffed.

I never expected a hiding but I thought they would pip it towards the end, I was almost worrying about the early score thinking don’t let this be Scotland all over again.

I think this confirms what I and many others have been saying for a fair while now. Steve Hansen is an average/poor coach. He’s got the best players in the world and it seems like their only game plan is to go out and play.
Or maybe it’s possible for one team to be good, and another team to be better?

The best you could say about his display was gritty... I am just looking at his performance objectively. His tackling was mediocre, he wasn't a threat with ball in hand, and he didn't kick well, and dropped the ball a couple of times in good attacking areas.

Not to say he is a bad player. He was just massively outshined in this game by Ford who was great with ball in hand, kicking and good defensively.

Hopefully Farrell recovers from whatever knock he received, because England won't be able to carry anyone in the final.

He was battered fairly early on. Apart from his ‘try’ Youngs was dreadful.

I agree Youngs looked out of his depth, headless chicken at times, and kicking out of hand wasn't great.

Reading press about how Aus should get Eddie to replace Chieka.
1. Like Eddie would want to return to that mess especially after they sacked him
2. Like England would release him
Eddie deserved to be sacked without a doubt.

My understanding of Eddie is that he's so universally disliked here he couldn't work here regardless.

Not saying he isn't a great coach. Straya and Eddie are basically spurned lovers at this point.

I'm not the only one then? Youngs seems only to act when the circumstances to do so are perfect. Otherwise he resorts to standing about looking confused as the ball is robbed from in front of him. I guess he's what we've got but he's glacial compared to other 9's and it doesn't help us. We're playing well in spite of Youngs not because of him.
