Haven't heard anything so my money would be on ********.

He does come to Leicester a lot but that has been the case since we signed the ford's, from what I gather the BOD have no interest in ever signing him. But who knows.

I agree but Baxter said in press confrence we were making no more signings team we had we were building, my feeling is we have alot of young players he wants to develop so dont think we will, not that it would be a bad signing

Personally I suspect it is putting 2 and 2 together.
I remember when we sacked cockers a lot of people where saying Ford was going to replace him because he was down at Tigers and was at most of our games but it was only becuase he was either meeting his lads or watching them play.

I'm not sure Mercer is the player to go for, but I'm surprised Baxter hasn't signed a replacement for Waldrom. I know Ewers, Armand and Kvesic can all cover 8 but none of them are specialists in the position. It's Simmonds and then Tuima who probably isn't ready for the Premiership.

I still think Morgan could have been perfect for you although I'd have liked to see an experienced 8 like Parisse sign to take Simmonds under his wing.

Mercer is very much a Baxter type signing (though yes, normative 8)
God solid player who outsnthe team first, who's deserves better than the game time he's had, and will be a notably better player if he had more game time.
Think James Scaysbrook - understandably not getting game time where he is, but good enough to start for ancoach with faith in him.

Totally agree, would have taken morgan happily tbh simmonds plays all accross the back line to tbh so morgan would have been a very good replacement for waldrom if we could get him.

We have Lawday, who's been very impressive during pre-season and the 7s.

Nothing against Mercer at all. Like you, I think he is probably better than his time at Bath has allowed him to show. Quins are light at 7 and I'd happily have him.

I don't think he's needed at Exeter though and I can't see it being a better situation for him given that they're already well stocked with flankers.

He's being linked with Leicester in TRP as cover for Brendon O'Connor.

NVM = Nevermind - means I cocked up and can't delete posts - I was suggesting that Kunatani might be a replacement for Mikalcius; on the assumption that a Fijian 7s player would likely play wing - hadn't realised that he already played XVs in the backrow... so unlikely as a direct replacement (though it might explain freeing up some cap IF firing before the Prem starts works that way).
Or... you're looking to convert him to wing...

From what I've been able to glean from YouTube, Toulouse signed Kunatani with the intention of playing him on the wing and then converted him to a utility back row.

It'll no doubt take him some time to adapt but he definitely adds a different kind of dynamism and link play/offloading to our back row options. It's a gamble, but IF it works out he could be a great signing.

I guess he could cover wing in an emergency too.
