2023-2024 transfers

Noel McNamara Leinster's Academy Manager is going to the slightly more South African Sharks (Cell C) as an assistant, which apparently the IRFU facilitated as Leinster doesn't really have any upward mobility for him right now. Good move for all involved

Garvey will be little more than a good solid squad player these days - and you need those - but not one to quicken the pulse. And at his age probably fairly short term.

Back in the day I liked the aggression he brought.

Aye, that's fair

I meant more as an experienced/older head in the squad - he'll do a job on the pitch but hopefully he'll help steel the side a bit.
Worcester's got some good players, just need that extra push to start getting the results to match
I think that's what he's been brought in for, a bit of steel. We lack it in the second row definitely.

Sale's confirmed the leavers:
WGJ,
JCW,
Morozov

Gutted to be losing Morozov - apparently his brother died recently and that's why he wants to move back to Russia.
Hopefully see him back in the top flight when things are a bit more settled - he's only 26.

Bit weird that:
a) Only three leavers
b) All are props

Makes a huge difference for us when we don't have Launch/ J Willis (injury/england). Post this week our pack has some real depth. The only signing i know we are looking for now is centre cover for Paolo.

If Alfie plays hooker or we choose Oghre the starting 8 would most likely be hard to chose.

You'd imagine so, especially with Taylor leaving, but who knows
Oghre is about to become an England international, somehow
100% i think this will be Alfie to 2 and i'd imagine that Jones has probably told Blackett its time for him to go back to his position as we are well set in backrow for both Wasps and England.

Oghre is an interesting one, his darts have got better and i think he probably put a lot on himself for that throw against Exeter. I believe Proudfoot said he thought Oghre was Brits esque in his style. He's great around the pitch and his engine is fantastic but he's a WIP.

So Wasps pack of
1. West
2. Alfie
3. Scholtz
4. Launchbury
5. Fifita
6. Carr
7. J.Willis
8. T.Willis
I'd reckon so... or you play Stooke at lock to bulk up and put Fifita at 6. Or Fifita at lock and switch Youngs/Shields in.

I am also fairly happy with whole pack (i've put in my choice order)

LHP: West, Hislop, Harris (probably Cordice)
HK: Barbeary, Oghre, Frost (Eckersley)
THP: Scholtz, Toomaga-Allen, Alo, Millar-Mills, (Nearchou)
Lock: Launchbury, Stooke, Gaskell, Cardall, Vukasinovic
Backrow: J Willis, Fifita, T Willis, Carr, Youngs, Shields, Morris (Curran)

How long is Launch out for though?

I'm assuming he and Jack Willis will miss a significant chunk of the 21/22 season which might mean it's Stooke and Fifita at lock (still very good) and Shields, Carr/Young and Willis in the back row.

Well he has ACL injury so i assume considering it took me 6-7 months to even get playing any sort of rugby etc i would assume 6-9 months depending on how it heals. J Willis will be roughly 9-12 months but is a few months ahead of Launch. Paolo only has a tear in his ACL so maybe less time but still a while.

Pretty much what I thought so Jack and Launch won't be back until the latter stages of 21/22. Same with Odogwu.
