I missed the game what happened on 74 minutes that there was a red and yellow??
Brumbies the better team sadly; back to the drawing board for us.

Well the Brumbies score more points during the season. So they deserve to go through.
As well the fact that I like some of their players a wee bit more.
It also ensures we get to see 2 semis and a final without having to set our alarm for 3AM
i think the STORMERS need more than that. One sided game. Shocked with the display of the STORMERS in front of the home crowd!!! Maybe it shows the tournament structure needs to be change. Only the best 6 be allowed to go to the next level.
Inept but the Brumbies played smart and hard and are worthy semi finalists. I'll vent on Monday.

I'm based in Belgium, so early duties for me. But a perfect start of the day.
In what way does this result demostrate a problem with the competition's format? The deck was stacked very much in favour of the Stormers - they effectively had a week off, were playing at home, had a local ref AND their opposition had to travel from the other side of the planet to play them after a bruising encounter with the mighty Crusaders.
I honestly can't work out how the Stormers got spanked so badly...

You are reading too much into the details and left out my last sentence. "Only the best 6 be allowed to go to the next level". If the points system were to be used, then Crusaders will qualified as the best 6th team.
Stormers qualification was based on conference leaders criteria.
But BRUMBIES played exceptionally well. And I be supporting them in the semi

Why? The Hurricanes deserve the title this season. Especially if you're a neutral, they are by far the best team to watch and support (2nd is us) . Along with the fact they haven't won a SR title yet.
That same comment was made to Cheika last year in the lead up to the Semi against the Brumbies (given the Tahs had won the round robin and had best defence and attack), and Cheika's curt reply was that no team deserves a title until they've actually won it.
The Canes deserve to be favourites, but they still have two games to genuinely earn the title.

Yes that's true. But I'm asking why he would out right support the Brumbies over a fantastic Hurricanes team, especially if he's going to fly the All Black flag, it's a little embarrassing.
Also, next weekends prediction? How do you feel about having that home SF? We're all annoyed by it, not your fault how ever. Silly competition format.
We'll take it is our view ;-) . The format isn't completely fair, but that's merely a byproduct of trying to accommodate a more "conference focussed" system. But it's a case of swings and roundabouts - some times you'll benefit, sometimes you won't. In terms of reducing travel and making the competition logistically easier to manage it's quite a good system otherwise however.
One thing is for sure though - it's about to get a whole lot less logical and more ridiculous next year. How the f##k we ended up with the dogs breakfast system we'll be entering into next year I'll never understand..
My apologies. Got it all wrong. I was still thinking STORMERS won the match (This was my prediction). Sorry I be supporting hurricanes for that match.
We simply have a too small back three. Not necessarily a problem but they aren't your Shane Williams/Cullens' etc.
We are without our regular captain and our injured stand-in captain decided to dross and pull on the red Toulon jersey in the lead up to the game without even letting anyone at the Stormers know beforehand.
The Brumbies played well.
Brumbies kept lying all over the ball on our side particularly at early critical stages this had a huge impact.
The Brumbies targeted the space in behind early with the Stormers' defense weak against this and got the rewards.
The Stormers are seemingly unable to adapt on field.
Schalk Burger pulling out early meant our combined pack ws terribly inexperienced and/or young and this was their first taste of knock out rugby.
Our halves are limited.
Tomane had his best game of the season.
Lleyds had his worst.
Our line-out throwers couln't find their jumpers. This has been a problem all season but it seems it's one we can't fix.
We can't seem to throw anything other than one-off runners at a half-decent defensive line.
This makes for easy gang tackling and jackling.
The ref was uninterested in coming down hard on anything disruptive early on.
Not that it really mattered, the gap in form between the two teams at this stage is just too vast though for my money this is not due to a lack of talent in the Stormers but and inept coaching/backroom staff and a lot of uncertainty/disjointedness in terms of player personel, gameplan and leadership.
The Brumbies were simply a much better side on the day.

I stopped watching at 60 minutes. The Stormers were shockingly poor on the day.
Damien De Allende forgot how to tackle, and spent all his talent on attack.
Stormers' defence was in absentia, which is strange for them as they have been one of the top defending teams the last 5 years...

If the player drain continues and SA teams just keep getting worse and worse, I think ARU and NZRU should break off from them. Although one benefit of touring SA with the franchise teams is the new All Blacks get a taste of what SA test venues are like.
Poor showing from the SA teams this year, I can't see it getting any better as well with their selection policy in place. But who knows, there's a large amount of players leaving NZ franchises, so it could be a lot tighter next season.
