Australian Rugby Union in financial trouble?

I've heard the financial situation at the ARU isn't that great, but could it really be this bad? ... granted, this guy usually writes rugby league articles, so he might not be in the loop with union finances, but it's an interesting read anyway.

... although this Sydney Morning Herald article indicates that it's about Super Rugby expansion (so it could be in the Super Rugby forum), it's really about the finacial state of the ARU in general, hence, why I chose the general forum to start the thread
