Still not sure on Hibbard or Roberts but can't think of a better one for either atm.

Edit: Maybe Scott Williams in for Roberts thinking about it..

Don't really understand the inclusion of Dunbar and Bennett. Both performed OK and Bennett looked dangerous but they were in a centre partnership that lost all five games. As much as I think Bennett has plenty of potential, he doesn't really seem to have a rugby brain at all: the number of times he seemed to just run the ball out because he never thought about the touchline was substantial.

Hibbard? He's not making the Wales 23 never mind a Lions squad.

Also Davies ahead of Dunbar, and surely there are better wingers in the British Isles than Liam Williams?

The Scottish flankers were so utterly outplayed against Ireland I don't see the case for them. I'd have Kelly Brown ahead of Ashe in the Scotland team, let alone a Lions tour.

by the partnership off the paring off Dunbar and Bennett you mean lost 2 games ?, Dunbar missed the last 2 and went off early against wales and italy i'm sure. Scott and Bennett is not working though. Bennett as you said is fine but Scott has lost it, His defence game was poor he wouldn't stop rushing up and making huge gaps. If Dunbar didn't get injured then our defence would look a little bit better.

Sorry i disagree with you there. The only outplayed flankers were Cowan in my opinon and thats about it. Ashe play's mainly at 8. so you can't slap him down that much. Harley is a good player he did fine.

Cowan was your best flanker, what you chatting?

I was impressed by Ashe, but not enough to tout him in a lions squad.

I agree that Ashe is not ready to be in the lions squad. But Cowan was not our best flanker. Yes he's good but i think Harley was more impressive than Cowan.

I don't agree with Gatland's choice of Baldwin over Hibbard. I think the impression is that Hibbard was replaced because the lineout wasn't going well. Hibbard and Ball were swapped out for Baldwin and Charteris at the same time. It gave Baldwin a massive edge over Hibbard because Charteris started in the games that Baldwin played.

Which hooker would you take instead?

I used a bit of a artistic licence with Ashe, inconsistent with the rest of the squad, but I was wholly unimpressed by the 6's from the British sides to be honest. As for the centres, Dunbar would have been the 12 of the tournament, Scotland's best player, Bennett needs to sure up the defence though, Scotland were incredibly vulnerable out wide because of him.

The squad based on this year-
Hooker- Best, Ford, Owens
Props- Cole, McGrath, Dickinson, Marler, Moore (Ross would be there if not for age) Cross
Locks- Gray, Lawes, POC, Wyn Jones
Flankers- Cowan, Robshaw, Warburton, O'Brien
Number 8- Vunipola, Heaslip
Scrum Half- Webb, Murray, Youngs
Fly Half- Ford, Sexton, Biggar
Centres- Dunbar, Davies, Joseph, Roberts, Henshaw
Wingers-Nowell, North, Williams, Bowe
Fullback- Brown, Kearney, Halfpenny

Hibbard was also dropped because he's not a genuine hooker under the scrum engagements, that area was better without him. Back in 2013 he was comfortably ahead of Best, now it's role reversed. Owens and Best are both clearly better than him, so are probably all 3 of England's hookers. Hibbard had a good run, but hopefully Wales don't make the same mistake Woodward made in 2005 of picking players based on what they did 2 years ago. The game moves on.
