I am a very new Rugby player in the U.S. for a local club. I have played two matches as a hooker. I would like to attend a training camp to learn more about the ins and outs of hooking, etc…. from expert coaches and staff. Are there any reputable training camps an individual can pay and attend for this type of training for a few days or maybe a week? I would travel to any country for the training.

Oh. Also, my neck and shoulders are killing me, any tips as far as weight training specifically for this position?

Where in the US do you live? This will help me help you find a camp.
Neck soreness sort of goes with the position. I play front row, myself. A couple of things...you and your props should work on getting low, and keeping your back flat (parralell to the ground). That will help some. The other thing you can do is to lay on a benc with your head hanging off the edge (unsupported) and place a 5lb weight on your forehead and raising your neck up and down. Start off light and easy. Then revers your position (roll over on your stomach) and repeat.

the exercise really works...had a bit of sore neck myself the other day after I had finished some mauling drills with my local club - instead of resting your neck - helps to flush out some of the pain.
