Chiefs Super Rugby star Sean Wainui dies in car accident

Sean Wainui, a rising star of Super Rugby with the Hamilton-based Chiefs, died Monday in an auto accident. Wainui played 44 matches for the Chiefs from 2018. Wainui scored five tries for the Chiefs against the New South Wales Waratahs in June, a Super Rugby record.

I read the Coroner is treating the death as suspected suicide, which if confirmed would be very sad for such a young man with young family.

There are several news articles, they don't say anything more than that it's being investigated as suspected suicide. I can't imagine how they could think that without some prior signs of depression. Driving fast straight at a tree (no skid marks) for instance could be suicidal but equally could be falling asleep at the wheel and in doing so pressing down on the accelerator; so I can't see how the nature of the car crash could possibly be enough to suspect suicide.
