Currie Cup FINAL 2011: Golden Lions - Natal Sharks (29-10-2011, 17:30)

Ek moet my Afrikaans vir my finaale eksamen oefen. Dis die perfek plek vir dit. :D

Yeah... what you said... :p
I can't wait for this match. Should be excellent.
Hope our boys are up for it! The Lions will have home field advantage, but we have a better team on paper. Lets see if we can carry that into performance.

Sharks 22 named, only change is Hargreaves in for Botes.

15. Patrick Lambie
14. Odwa Ndungane
13. Stefan Terblanche
12. Marius Joubert
11. JP Pietersen
10. Frederic Michalak
9. Conrad Hoffmann
8. Ryan Kankowski
7. Willem Alberts
6. Keegan Daniel (Captain)
5. Ross Skeate
4. Jean Deysel
3. Jannie du Plessis
2. Bismarck du Plessis
1. Tendai "Beast" Mtawarira
Replacements
16. Craig Burden
17. Eugene van Staden
18. Alistair Hargreaves
19. Marcell Coetzee
20. Ross Cronje
21. Adrian Jacobs
22. Lwazi Mvovo

Hulle het verkraag (lol I'm sorry, but I don't really know another word less crassy that conveys the same message) Western Province se centres.

Man, I am excited about this. I can feel we are going to have a tough game but we will pull through in the end. The experience of playing finals will be the deciding factor. The Lions only have van Heerden, James, van der Linde, Maku and that's it! That's the most experience they will be able to use. We have players who played Rugby World Cups, Super 15 play offs, have won 2 Currie Cups, toured to Europe and it is not just a couple... We have Jannie, Bismarck, Mtawarira, Alberts, Deysel, Kankowski, Skeate, Lambie, Ndungane, Terblanche, Joubert, Mvovo, Pietersen, Michalak, Jacobs, Botes...

We are going to win this!

Yeah but don't forget while you have the experience the Lions have the continuity though if you're last game against them is anything to go by... it's a final though so will probably be a bit tougher. My prediction is Sharks by 8; building up a good lead but letting the Lions in for a couple towards the end.

Ek moet my Afrikaans vir my finale eksamen oefen. Dis die perfek plek vir dit (the hierdie should either replace -dis- at the start are come in at the end of the sentence). :D

Dan (not wrong but Daarna would be better than Dan) kan ons hulle verkrag.

Daar sal baie glory-hunting (paaiboeties is the only term I can think of ooff the top of my head LOL- any better suggestions, mede Afrikaanssprekendes?) Haaie ondersteuners na (by) die wedstryd wees, ek dink dit sal 50/50 of 40/60 wees, so ons moenie bekommerd wees of (dat) die wedstryd (ondersteuners se bywoning rather than wedstryd?) is 'een-kant' (eensydig sal wees).

Hulle het verkraag (lol I'm sorry, but I don't really know another word less crassy that conveys the same message) Western Province se centres (Hulle het WP se centres verkrag). Ek verstaan wat hou nie almal van die Bok 'incumbents' reg nou nie (not too sure what you are sayin here LOL), maar hulle is beter dan (as) Oupa en sy fellow pensioner (mede pensionaris).

Not oo bad!75%.

A word mispelled here and there (not that I don't mispell English words on a regular basis; in fact I am not sure if my spelling of spelled and misspelled is right LOL) the only thing that bugs me is your grammar where you directly translate from English into Afrikaans;

Hulle het WP se 'centres' verkrag (inderdaad T_T)

But a very good job overall (hence the 75%)!

Hopefully we can put pressure on their scrum like last time.
Anyone notice Strauss was hardly binding in to break off quickly. Need Lawrence to see that if he tries it again.

Experience didn't help my beloved Province in the semis... :'(

Goodluck!

Yes, but your experience was focused solely on the backline. Your scrumpack is weak as hell. We have an entire Springbok-frontrow, and entire Springbok backrow, 3(!) wingers with Bok experience and the biggest talent SA has had since Joost v.d. Westhuizen.

I tend to translate directly from English to Afrikaans, then fiddle around with it until it makes absolutely no sense. Tends to get me marks (either out of correctness, or sympathy I'm not too sure...) most of the time.

As for the 2nd to last red-marked bit, I was trying to "I understand that not everyone thinks much of (I founds 'likes' to be an adequate substitute in my head :p ) the Bok incumbents right now, etc...

Onderwys my, en ek sal leer.

Watched the semi's, Lions look solid. Lots of talent in that team.

The Sharks forwards were particularly impressive inside the opp 22, they are hard to stop from 5-10m out.

Should be a good game.

edit: just realized every post needs some english and sith ifrikkan to cater for all: "Lions luuk grrate, lots of talint un that teim". "Shorks fowards werre particularly emprrressive insade the opp 22, they are hord to stoop frrom fave - teeen metires out" :D

Oh no!!

I accidentally added my vbookie to the Lions and not the Sharks! is there a way it can be changed??? Please Eze, (that rhymes) can you assist??

I'm getting so much flak on my facebook status I just posted about the Lions fans celebrating too early... I wish the Sharks win them even further than the last time they played each other!!

So do I! :D

Not sure if I can remove it, but you can add it for the Sharks as well...

English is a germanic language. Just borrowed HEAVILY from French and Latin.

Shouldn't be too difficult to learn if interested. Also, I find English speaking people who laugh at others who speak/type English as a 2nd or even 3rd language who don't speak/type another language fluently themselves just plain arrogant.

Still picking the Sharks to win; their style of play is more suited to a play-off and they're just a better team (on paper and considering recent results).

It's funny because the language was forced upon you!

Now, before anyone becomes agressive and they summon the ghost of Eugene Terrablanche to come and attack me with his little nazi and kkk outfits on, I say this bearing in mind that the 'borrowing' the English language did is also a result of the Normans/ Saxons/ people not being intelligent enough to pronounce the words correctly. However I can see why people would say that it is probably too soon and think I am a dick. Or an even bigger one depending on the poster.

LMGA (Lag My Gat Af) = LOL... :D
