13. Robbie Henshaw (Ireland)
12. Jean De Villiers (South Africa)
11. Jonny May (England
10. Johnny Sexton (Ireland)
9. Aaron Smith (All Blacks)
8. Jamie Heaslip (Ireland)
7. Chris Robshaw (England)
6. Jerome Kaino (All Blacks)
5. Paul O'Donnell (Ireland)
4. Courtney Laws (England)
3. Owen Franks (All Blacks)
2. Augustin Creevy (Argentina)
1. Joe Marler (England)

Knew this would pop up. Seems they're getting a lot of kiwi press.

I'm now sure how half the people in that team got there.

Ultimately, who cares? It's some journalists obviously bias opinion. There's plenty of obviously bias New Zealand journalists too. Just simply means you don't give much credit to future articles.

They shouldn't be allowed to write about rugby until they actually learn something about it. It's becoming really disgraceful. Yeah, it's his opinion, but I have no idea what he's talking about.

I don't agree with any of it. Maybe 3 or 4 of his picks at the very most.

Nah looks pretty legit to me lol
The only one I would agree with is Kaino most of these guys are not even third or fourth best in their position in the world in my opinion and it's pretty comical putting them anywhere near a world 15 I mean look who they picked at fullback pfffft.

It's picked on who's played well over the last 4 weeks not egos considered the best on their position.

It's a pretty decent crack at who has shone over the last few weeks to be fair.

Bring Wilson in for Franks, Murray, Laidlaw or Webb in for Smith. Read in for Heaslip (which is a tough call on Heaslip).

Robshaw is an iffy call, Warburton has been huge, McCaw also.

You get one of these every year, it's an EOYT team from someone who hasn't watched any of the SH sides too closely be the look of it. I'd only agree with 2, 3, 5, 6, 10 and 14 from that list and a few are ridiculously bad choices... Willie Le Roux????

Well it's arguable Kearney should be the 15, no one else came close, but he does specify that he's picked Le Roux for one moment only, the catch and pass against England.

I don't think it's that unjust. Who in the NZ, SA, Argentina and Australia teams were standouts over the people in the list? Those teams performances were more the result of collective excellence than individual performances.

15. Willie Le Roux (South Africa)/Kearney
14. Tommy Bowe (Ireland) - who was better?
13. Robbie Henshaw (Ireland) - who was better?
12. Jean De Villiers (South Africa) - Fofana? Toomua? SBW?
11. Jonny May (England) - Thomas?
10. Johnny Sexton (Ireland) - No one came close
9. Aaron Smith (All Blacks) - Murray, Laidlaw and Webb all had much bigger performances than smith.
8. Jamie Heaslip (Ireland) - read played well, but was he better than Heaslip against SA and Australia?
7. Chris Robshaw (England) - Arguable, possibly McCaw or Warburton, but he shone in a whipped England side.
6. Jerome Kaino (All Blacks) - he was man fo the match against England imo.
5. Paul O'connell (Ireland) - who was betetr than he was against SA and Australia?
4. Courtney Laws (England) - Rettalick was ok, but not better than Lawes over the course of the four games.
3. Owen Franks (All Blacks) - LOL!!!!
2. Augustin Creevy (Argentina)
1. Joe Marler (England)

13 - Kuindrani
12 - Toomua
11 - Savea, he got his tries when they were needed and that's his job, similar to Bowe.
9 - Any of the above, Webb probably my pick.
8 - Reid, not outstanding but was more important to all NZ's wins than Heaslip vs Aus.
7 - I was thinking Warburton myself but it's very close
5 - O'Connell and Retallick were probably on the same level of performance, the former wins out on leadership.
4 - Lawes is right, missed out there.
3 - Franks was up there with the best of a bad lot but Dave Wilson had slipped my mind.
1 - Ayerza for me but once again very little in it.

There's nothing in many of the calls and a lot of NZers missing out simply because they looked very much beatable in all their games which has never happened before and created a bit of an illusion to their actual high level of play. Ireland benefit a lot from the media attention they received and the fact that our key players seem to be in areas that other sides are struggling, all in all I can see his reasons for 13 of his picks but the two Saffas in the backs simply shouldn't be there. Picking a player from one moment in four games of rugby screams amateur journalism to me.

I'd agree with parts of this. Warburton in at flanker for me, he is a massive part of that Welsh defence. Read in for Heaslip. I'd also be picking Savea over May. I really like May, but Savea has generally made more running meters and done more with the ball when he has had it. If everyone is saying Tommy Bowe should be on one wing, then I'd go for power on the other. May and Savea are both awesome in their own ways, but unless you're starting another in-form powerhouse on the other wing then I'd be going for Julian.

I also like Lawes, but I'd pick Rettalick. Bit hard to compare because Brodie has only played the English and Welsh game, not four in a row or anything. But comparing his two test matches against Lawes' performances against the Wallabies and All Blacks, Brodie has his nose out in front. On those comparisons, there isn't really anything separating their lineout ability. But Rettalick generally makes more tackles, more passes, more runs, more defenders beaten and more offloads. Rettalick probably isn't technically the best jumper going after this tour (not that he's bad ... I'm just saying there's probably someone better) but he's extremely mobile, and he showed that on tour. I reckon it'd compliment O'Connell well, who is a pretty powerful bugger.

While I like Kaino, my gut tells me a South African should probably be somewhere in the blindside position. Surely they have someone good enough for a world team.

Yeah, i can understand that and it's not an unreasonable argument at all - if i was picking my ultimate team i'd have Savea in with no second question.

Having said that May, in his defence, scored a stunning solo try against NZ, rounded Smith and Dagg for his 1st international try ever, then firmly cemented his left wing spot with excellent performances against SA, Samoa and Australia, whereas leading up to the AI's 11 was an real issue position for us.

good shout on Kuridrani, but Toomua wasn't very good, he was fine passing and against England, but his kicking was awful and his defence wasn't great - he also only started two games IIRC.

Yeah, agree with most of that, but he's a journo and really he's paid to do what we all sit around doing for free on here. :)

England lost 5 tests in a row. 4 vs New Zealand. Not sure how you can have more than 1 or 2 players at the most feature in there sorry.

They lost three of those tests in July, this is an End of Year world XV, how do those July games have any bearing on now? they lost two close games to 1&2, and the players picked int hat 15 put in outstanding performances in those two games that counted.

Additionally team results shouldn't' matter, hence Smith can do one at 9.

Bold Black are just WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT AAAAHAHAHAH NOOOO YALL SURRIUS !!! YA SURRIUS ?!!!!

Blue are surely wrong.

Props (or hookers, rather) for Creevy's pick though, the one gutsy move that actually makes logical sense with the head. No Brodie Retallick ? Not that prizes and titles should mean everything, I mean the majority could've got it wrong, but he's obviously the best lock in the world, just...I understand Paul O'Connell's grunt and experience and current hyper-activity puts him in a certain ascendency, but Lawes is a young lock too, Retallick obviously insures one spot at very least..

15.Halfpenny (Based on the SA game)
14.Bowe
13.Kuridrani (Monumental this year)
12.? (Hernandez v France ?)
11.May (3 tries in 4 test)

7.McCaw
6.Kaino
5.O'Connell
4.Attwood (Been a massive part of England's set piece)
3.Wilson
2.Creevy (Kudos as I had forgot him)
1.The Irish guy who's name escapes my mind McGrath ?
