Newport Gwent Dragons full-back Martyn Thomas is set to miss the start of next season after a serious ankle injury.
The 23-year-old was hurt in the region's penultimate Magners League match with Cardiff Blues last Friday.
Thomas is likely to be out for five to six months after surgery, leaving him battling to make the opening rounds of the Heineken Cup next October.
