Glad to see it's been sorted out, but still no mention of the monetary issues which leaves me concerned there are possible problems ahead. That is unless they've come to an agreement and just not made it public.

Seeing that the SRU have the media skills of Ramsey MacDonald, if there was a deal done in private, half of the Scottish press would have had anonymous memos by now.

It would appear so but who knows what might happen next.

It's a good thing that this has been sorted, if it hadn't been we probably would have seen a situation with the Borders being revived at Edinburgh's expense followed by an exodus of the top players and be left with a far weaker team with the Borders which would only weaken the Magners League even further.

The worrying thing though which still hasn't gone away seems to be the incompetence of the Union, unless they seriously get their house in order we'll have more problems like this one further down the line.

There has been a consortium of Aberdonian businessmen wanting to set up a franchise in Stirling for years but the SRU have stonewalled. Inexplicable when you think about it.

Is it entirely SRU reasons that are stopping this or are there local political factors involved as well?

Well it had been rumbling on and off for years. The SRU's official position is that if the consortium put together a good enough plan they'll back it.
