England 2024/25

I'm not saying it is, but jones obsession with playing Japan and Australia really helped his win ratio.

I mean is 2 games v Japan in 7 years an obsession?

We did play Aus 11 times during that time period but when compared to the in the previous 7 years prior to him it was 9 games and then 7 years prior to that was 11 games so more the standard.

I don't think Henry Slade ever started v Japan or Aus at 13 either

(Honestly actually playing Japan more often has prob been one of the things I have enjoyed most about Eddie time it's a massive developing market and I think it's prob one of the very few bright sparks about modern rugby is seeing a country with no historical ties to the sport really embrace it)

If Marchant does come back to England as being rumoured I can see him back in for the Autumn matches.
More than likely. A good reason for Beard to really put in a good performance this tour if he gets a chance.

Weird size for a back row

Definitely. He'd also dovetail very nicely with most of the options at 12. No brainer if the Sale rumours are true.

I can see it getting ugly tbh
Looking forward we should learn a lot about our depth this series
I don't really know what the RFU are playing at. All the other home nations went for winnable series with depleted squads we went for Argentina with World Cup rankings coming for the group stages later that year.

None of this doom mongering has anything to do with our squad depth …

Where's @TRF_Olyy when you need him … oh …

It really isn't. I can't see many other nations being able to pick a squad like the one we have with 12+ players unavailable.

Granted some of that depth isn't experienced, but in a lot of cases that's down to age. It's a very young group.

Somewhat disagree you are largely saying that because you watch the premiership regularly I feel

Well Im not interested in the lions but seeing the score probably confirms whats been said above. A tough gig coming up.

But there's some good player in this England squad, and a few who really need to put some markers down. Players like Alex Coles. Can he play at the level he needs to, to challenge the likes of Itoje, Chessum etc ahead of him.

Can the back row lads match the intensity that Curry, Earl etc can hit.

And for some it's a real opportunity. Seb Atkinson for one has his opertutinity to put his hand up for that problem 12 spot .. he's certainly going to find out what test match rugby is about

Take a look at the Ireland squad going to Georgia.

Of the inexperienced players picked for today's game, the players with the least experience - Hill, Pepper, Atkinson and Carpenter are easily good enough to be third choice (as they are today) and all have the potential to be first choice in their positions.

Others like Iyogun might be inexperienced but have just played well in a Champions Cup final.

I'm expecting two defeats in Argentina but I think this group will perform well and results aside, I think there's a lot more to gain from a challenging tour than going for meaningless 'easy' wins.
