England in India

Well a 7 match ODI series gets underway tomorrow with India coming in on the back of their magnificent test series win over the Aussies. Will it be a case of after the lord mayor's show for Dhoni's side or will momentum and confidence continue to grow off the back of it. Can England find the form that saw them convincingly beat South Africa in their last one day series or will we see the shambolic performance that was their Stanford Twenty20 effort.

Either way it promises to be an enthralling series.

India well on top with just 1 over to go in their innings, Yuvraj on fire despite the dodgy back and Sehwag chipped in with a decent 85, quality catch from Bell though to get him out. Given that all the bowlers have been taken to task at some stage I'm surprised that Bopara wasn't given a bowl, I know Collingwood went for 15 in his 1 over but I'd rate Bopara as the better bowler.

England set 388 to win, too much methinks, Pietersen and Flintoff need a huge effort and Prior and Bell are not the ideal openers to be chasing down this target.

Awesome from Yuvraj finshing 138 not out

Stuart Broad got spanked! None for 74 off 10 overs lol.... The other bowlers didn't exactly have a field day either.

Great batting from Yuvraj and Sehwag also.

England have no chance chasing this total down, this match is as good as over.

388!! Nearly 400 there well done India!

You'd think so but England are going at a cracking 4 an over in reply!!![/b]

woww holy crap they're a real chance here.. are they just playing for averages?? come on give it a crack, SA did and they won somehow.

I'm looking forward to the test matches. There may only be two test but it will be interesting how England go against India in India and compare that to how the Aussies went should help us compare the teams before the upcoming Ashes campaign in 2009.

28 for 2 after 8 overs, both Prior and Shah out. This is going to be embarrassing.

and Bell gives his wicket away, seriously what does this clown have to do to get dropped, not sure what the selectors see in him, 1 century in whatever number of games he's played.

Now Flintoff gone, poor decision from the umpire with it pitching outside, if they want to still have a glimmer of a hope they should send in Bopara now but there's Collingwood unsurprisingly.

Pathetic effort from England, on a pitch that good to only make 228 is never gonna be good enough. Bopara made a case to be moved up the order, despite running out Pietersen but Bell is forever running people out and he's practically an automatic selection.

Someone should tell Pietersen that there's more to say in a post match interview than 'at the end of the day'

So the remaining 2 ODIs have been called off given the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, just as well for England as they were staring down the barrel of a 7-0 whitewash.

So far the test series remains on track but subsequent events may put a stop to that as well.

Thats a real shame. Lets hope India doesnt turn into what Pakistan has become and teams stop touring there.

well they're back for the test series but with changed venues for security reasons.

England are going into the first test with a twin spin attack led by Monty while Swann gets his first test start.

Hard to see anything other than a home win in both tests and India will then go to second in the rankings, should England upset the odds then they can move ahead of Sri Lanka just behind India and South Africa. Not likely though.

Well who'd have thunk it 2 days in and England are in charge of this test match, having made 316 in their first innings with Strauss making a century and Prior chipping in with a half century, England have reduced India to 155-6 in reply.

If England can knock them over cheaply and quickly in the morning then they have a chance to build a more than defensible lead. Big if though as the India tail usually wags longer than most.

Oh ****. If England win this series, the english medias gonna be writing a shitload of tripe about how they won in India and Australia didnt, meaning they are definetly going to win the ashes next year

given what happened against SA during the Summer it's only fools who'd be writing such nonsense, this is only a 2 test series so nothing much can be read into it when comparing it to a 5 match series.

Its the British press what do you expect.
They were writing heaps of garbage when Australia lost to India, imagine the praise they will get if England beat India, even if its only two tests.

well seeing as I don't read the British press too much then I must have missed it, any examples?

Didnt Botham already state that England would win the next ashes series. Typical of the English press but in all honesty, its not as if the Aussies are looking like world beaters at the moment. They look weaker then they have done in a long time.

England have got as much of a chance of beating the Aussies as it being the other way round.
